Design EstimatorWest Midlands / HybridUp to £35,000Our client is seeking an experienced Design Estimator to join their expanding team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in system design and estimating within the Security Industry. This role involves delivering tender and sales opportunities consistently across the business, along with providing quotations based on information from site-based staff and others.Key Responsibilities:
Generate client quotations and distribute them internally or externally as required.
Conduct site surveys in collaboration with the Technical Director and other relevant parties.
Monitor the quote bank to follow up and progress orders, contacting clients to obtain decisions.
Review technical specifications to fully understand requirements.
Research appropriate systems and components to meet requirements and enhance the company’s product portfolio.
Perform design calculations and present technical information, coordinating with manufacturers and suppliers for technical data and costs.
Execute the Bid/No Bid process in accordance with company directives.
Review and produce service quotations, providing assistance with renewal costs and variations.
Prepare and assess the requirements for tenders and budgets, determining associated costs and design parameters.
Interpret information and accurately price bills of quantities/pricing documents.
Identify and understand various contract forms, their interpretation, and legal obligations. Develop rates, prices, and schemes for inclusion in tenders, aligning with the commercial strategy.
Understand insurance coverage to protect the company’s position, mitigating risks with the application of bonds, warranties, and guarantees as necessary.
Negotiate and establish agreed terms and conditions with clients as needed.
Produce commercial bids and documentation for senior management approval, considering the impact on commercial and operational risk.
Obtain the best pricing from supply chain partners for resources, goods, and services required for quotations or tenders, ensuring compliance with budgetary and technical standards, and maintaining job costs and expected/minimum margins to ensure profitability.
Prepare and submit accurate and high-quality tenders/estimates within deadlines, providing designs, specifications, drawings, and technical submissions as required.
Collaborate with other departments including Commercial, Finance, Project Management, Service, and Operations.
Create reports for senior management upon request.
Participate in Design to Operations handover meetings upon award and as directed.
