TODAY's logo

We’re looking for a designer who wants to invent beyond the obvious—who understands how strategy, technology and design come together to enable creativity.

You’ll blend visual, experience and interaction design to create useful, usable and engaging brands, products, digital services and experiences for clients looking to have a positive impact on the world.

As our first Design Lead in the Gadigal (Sydney) team, you’ll be part of building our presence in Sydney, and growing our design practice.

In previous roles, you might have been called a Digital Designer, a Product Designer, an Interaction Designer or an Experience Designer. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable doing and leading the spectrum of design from research through to digital execution.

About us

We’re Today, Australia’s most awarded social impact agency. We use design and technology to make change happen at pace and at scale.

We tackle society’s biggest challenges and drive positive change, in sectors such as arts and public spaces, youth and families, cities, transport and housing, climate, education, First Nations justice, health and wellbeing, public service, and sustainable economy.

We believe in human-centred design, collaboration across crafts (strategy, research, design, content, delivery), and we have a passionate team of 60+ in Naarm (Melbourne) with a new Gadigal (Sydney) branch taking off.

You’ll experience a welcoming environment filled with smart, fun, and caring people from a wide variety of backgrounds and disciplines, who are passionate about creativity, making change, and learning from each other. Learn more about our values and culture at today.design/careers

About the role

At Today, our designers work across all aspects of the design process: uncovering user needs through research, defining product value propositions, creating rapid prototypes, and bringing brands and experiences to life with beautiful graphic and interaction design.

  • Unpick complex UX and lA problems, creating radically simple experiences
  • Contribute to project approaches to win new work as part of business development
  • Grow existing partnerships and build new ones by delivering work that helps our clients create positive impact for people and planet

Requirements

You have:

  • A demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once with complex stakeholder requirements
  • Demonstrated experience running design research activities like concept testing, prototyping and usability testing

You also

  • Are a creative problem-solver
  • Have experience in client management, facilitation, and storytelling
  • Have a growth mindset, collaborative spirit, and an action bias
  • Bring optimism, humour, and a playful approach to your work
  • Treat others with kindness, empathy and respect
  • Have experience contributing to proposals that win new work
