tendersglobal.net

Job description

  • Provide outreach to young people across the Greater Shepparton & Moira areas
  • Increase your take-home pay with up to $15,900 in salary packaging benefits
  • Part-time (0.8FTE), max term to June 2025, based in Maude Street Shepparton

About your new role

Whether you are an experienced youth worker or recently qualified and starting your career, we’d love to hear from you.

As our Detour Coach, you will focus on providing early intervention and prevention services. Using a strengths-based approach, you will help young people in the Greater Shepparton and Moira areas to develop the skills and resources they need to reach their full potential.

With your support, young people will commit to an integrated plan that creates a pathway to successful independence and connects them to their families and the community. It’s all about the right support at the right time.

About your team

Our Detour program is an early intervention program for young people aged 12-24 years and their families. The initiative aims to address potential homelessness in young people. We do this by providing intensive wrap-around coaching with individualised intensive support packages.

We are a small team, collocated with our Uniting colleagues in our brand-new office space in Maude Street Shepparton. Great work environment and lots of networking opportunities.

Benefits of working at Uniting

The role is part-time (0.8 FTE), with a maximum term of 30 June 2025, and we are flexible on days, except for Tuesday when we all get together in the office.  We’d also consider shorter hours across 5 days if that works for you.

In addition to your base hourly rate of $43.08 and superannuation, you’ll also receive 17.5% leave loading and the ability to increase your take-home pay by accessing up to $15,900 in salary packaging benefits, which can be used for living expenses such as groceries, bills, clothing, streaming services, and much more.

With our meal entertainment benefit of $2,650 annually, you can save on dining out and drinks, making the most of your pre-tax dollars. At Uniting, you can access the following:

  • Buy additional annual leave if you need extra time off
  • Access up to 10 weeks of paid parental leave for primary caregivers.
  • Access training and development opportunities to help you grow.
  • Opt in or out of public holidays and be respected for your unique background.

About you

You will work with people who care as much as you about helping young people reach their potential. You will also bring with you:

  • A relevant tertiary and experience in the community, human services, or social sectors.
  • Experience in working with and providing casework to young people and their families,
  • An understanding of key issues as related to youth homelessness and family breakdown.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in strength-based casework practice and group work.
