Compensation: $650 per week + $1000 monthly for housing

The Resource Assistants Program seeks to engage ethnically and racially diverse young professionals in natural resource careers. You must be:

  • a U.S. citizen or legal resident.
  • a college graduate.

* A personal vehicle is required for this position. 

Position Description: 

Public information and preventing resource damage from dispersed camping and recreation involve several important aspects of land management and conservation. This entails educating the public, setting guidelines, and actively implementing strategies to minimize the negative impacts of dispersed camping and recreational activities on natural resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Engaging in various tasks related to cleaning recreational areas, making public contacts, vegetation management, and providing signage and public information contributes significantly to the overall management and maintenance of public spaces. Each of these tasks plays a unique role in enhancing the visitor experience and preserving the natural environment. Here’s an expanded perspective on each of these responsibilities:

Qualifications:

Major studies relevant to this position: Recreation, biology, forestry, public administration

  • Having some experience in a natural resources profession or having completed an internship is highly valuable when considering a role that involves managing recreational areas, particularly those located near waterways. Such experience provides several key advantages and insights that can greatly benefit the management and conservation efforts in these specific environments.
  • Willing to get their hands dirty, good communicators and level-headed, qualified to operate gov vehicle
