The Australia-Pacific Partnerships Platform (The Partnerships Platform) is looking for motivated and skilled professionals who are keen to make a difference. We seek passionate staff who work collaboratively to deliver ideas and advice that can help our Pacific Island Country partners meet their governance and stability goals. The Partnerships Platform is seeking an experienced and motivated Development and Capacity Building Specialist to be based in Nauru with a proven track record in implementation of a range of personnel capacity development approaches alongside with working with bilateral or multilateral funded projects, including high-level experience in program management, financial management, contract management and monitoring and evaluation.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative, respectful, flexible and resilient Development and Capacity Building Specialist with a keen focus on High Commission team to support capacity building of locally engaged staff in the management and delivery of Australia’s aid program in Nauru.
The Development and Capacity Building Specialist will:
- Lead, design and implement capacity development activities to AHC personnel on all aspects of development program management;
- Support the design and implementation of Australia’s investments in Nauru;
- Identify opportunities to improve program management and cohesion in the approach to program planning and implementation across program sectors;
- Assist with monitoring and evaluation of programs to inform broader performance reporting and decision-making, including feeding into DFAT’s annual reporting requirements;
- Provide advice and input to briefing, financial budget analysis and compliance reporting for senior management to support engagement with partner government agencies and other stakeholders; and
- Provide advice and leadership for complex tasks related to contract management, gender equality, disability inclusion, risk and fraud management and other cross-cutting issues.

The position is an accompanied, 12 months posting with the option to extend for another 12 months. A competitive international standard remuneration package will be offered to the successful candidate, including housing, and return airfares if required for international candidates.
