ICA Fund is actively seeking a proactive and organized full-time
Development Associate to play a crucial role in supporting ICA’s
fundraising pipeline. This position involves coordinating efforts
across various departments to ensure the delivery of high-quality
grant-related materials that align with our mission to accelerate
great businesses in order to close the racial and gender wealth
gaps. The Development Associate will report to the ICA’s Director
of Development and work collaboratively across the Direct Services,
Investment, Marketing, Finance, and Impact Evaluation departments
to support writing and reporting on grants to ICA. The position is
based in Oakland, CA with a hybrid work model (in-office Tuesdays
and Thursdays) and remote work.
ICA: NOT BUSINESS AS USUAL
People of color, especially women of color, start businesses at
higher rates — but are constrained by structural inequities and are
often overlooked by mainstream funders. Through ICAs coaching,
connections, and capital we partner with, mentor, and invest in
underestimated Bay Area entrepreneurs to accelerate great
businesses and build an economy that works for all.
ICA is a Venture Capital Community Development Financial
Institution (CDFI) committed to closing the racial and gender
wealth gaps and addressing structural inequities faced by
entrepreneurs of color and women. With a 28-year track record, our
tailored accelerator programs and strategic investments support
underestimated Bay Area entrepreneurs because we believe in the
transformative power of small businesses and foster an inclusive
culture that promotes collaboration and mutual respect. Joining our
team is an opportunity to contribute directly to our mission,
accelerating entrepreneurs of color and women. You’ll play a
crucial role in advancing our work and witness the daily impact of
our support on local economies. Operating as a lean startup, we
challenge traditional financing models, emphasizing racial equity
and prioritizing good jobs within ICA.
THE ROLE
The Development Associate plays an essential role in securing
philanthropic contributions to support ICA’s programs and
operations. Reporting directly to the Director of Development, and
collaborating with the CEO and other internal stakeholders, the
Associate will support a growing portfolio of 40+ individual donors
and institutional funders. Responsibilities include coordinating
complex projects, creating compelling content for grant proposals
and reports, and supporting relationship stewardship efforts with
funders and their staff. The Associate ensures timely and accurate
management of grants and donations, including tracking donor
information and status, reporting, recognition, and acknowledgment
activities. The Associate will also contribute to ICA’s
fundraising strategy by maintaining donor profiles in our databases
(e.g. Salesforce) and organizing outreach events in partnership
with ICA’s Marketing team.
