Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Office of Philanthropy is currently
seeking a Development Associate II (Philanthropy Associate
II). Reporting to the Assistant Director of Annual and
Leadership Giving, this position will support the Executive
Director, Director, and Assistant Director of Annual and Leadership
Giving and their work implementing and managing the annual fund
program for UMB. This position will be a valued participant in a
multi-faceted annual fundraising program, which employs traditional
and web-based solicitation strategies to encourage and increase
support from alumni and friends.

Essential
Functions:
-
Writes, edits, and
fulfills annual giving email and print campaigns. This includes but
is not limited to printing and mailing cards for donors and alumni
for solicitation purposes, formatting emails to send to mass
audiences, drafting language for appeals throughout the year, and
sending messages through a texting platform.
Manages data management
of the day-to-day support activities by running recurring and ad
hoc reports, updating Excel worksheets with up-to-date data,
uploading communication data into CRM, preparing and submitting
invoices, and analyzing quarterly reports.
Conducts research to help
the team stay abreast of current trends in development through
internet research, participating in webinars, and attending
in-person seminars or conferences.
Prepares materials for
meetings and events.
Represents the University
and the Office of Philanthropy in person, email, and by
phone.
Performs other duties as
assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
Experience: Two years fundraising, philanthropy,
or client/customer relations experience. Experience in one or all
the following areas: annual giving, phonathons, alumni relations,
donor relations, or stewardship preferred.
Other:
Related experience may be substituted in lieu of
education.

and Abilities:

Ability to be tactful and
accurate with the work being performed and maintain awareness of
industry trends and influences. Assumes personal responsibility for
all outcomes; makes effective and timely decisions. Knowledge and
expertise with office computer systems and relevant programs
including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and University’s donor
database. Maintains productivity and uses knowledge strategies to
increase knowledge base. Ability to multi-task, observe deadlines,
prioritize, and execute assignments with attention to detail with
limited supervision.
Ability to effectively
communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts.
Writes and presents solicitation and acknowledgment materials
information concisely. Interprets and understands written
information and can listen attentively to verbal and non-verbal
cues that lead to a deeper understanding.
Ability to work
cooperatively with others and demonstrate professional, ethical,
respectful, and courteous behavior when interacting with others.
Capable of interacting pleasantly and positively with others to
meet customer expectations and provide follow up with
customers.
Ability to effectively
manage time and meet deadlines with limited supervision.
Hiring Range:
$52,000 – $58,000 (Commensurate with education and
experience)
