Summary of Position 

  • Supervised by: Development Director 
  • Supervises: Non-supervisory role 
  • Status: full-time, 40hr/week, FLSA exempt, salaried 
  • Compensation: Salary range negotiable beginning at $50,000/year. Annual salary commensurate with candidate’s qualifications and related experience.

Job Responsibilities 

LandWatch is looking for a dynamic Development Coordinator to build and maintain strong relationships with individual and business supporters. The ideal candidate is community-oriented, focused, and will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. Succeeding in this position requires strong attention to detail, teamwork, perseverance, optimism, and an ability to think strategically and creatively. This position also requires strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. A passion for fundraising and planning events is essential.

This position is part of the Development team, which is responsible for building a strong and sustainable base of support for LandWatch by engaging individuals, businesses, and foundations. 

Membership and Donation Coordination (50%): 

  • Consistently implement the Development Team’s annual plan for cultivating donors and increasing annual giving by individual and business supporters; 
    • Responsible for achieving fundraising goals for members who contribute up to $1,000 annually.
  • Accurately maintain and enhance LandWatch’s donor database and strategically utilize its capabilities to:
    • Track member engagement with email campaigns, event attendance, advocacy participation, and other solicitations to identify donor prospects; 
    • Prepare regular reports from the database for membership and gift activities, recognition and events;
    • Accurately record all donations and member contact information. 
  • Work with the Development and Communications teams to develop fundraising appeals, campaigns, and targeted communications with donors and prospects; 
  • Work across the organization to identify and cultivate donor prospects; 
  • Actively participate in monthly development team meetings and work with the management team to ensure the organization meets all fundraising goals; 
  • Perform day-to-day fundraising activities including:
    • Receiving and logging donations;
    • Generating and sending acknowledgment letters;
    • Making weekly donor thank-you calls; 
    • Acting as the first point of contact with current and prospective members; 

Events (20%):

  • Represent LandWatch at strategic tabling opportunities and community events; 
  • Plan and execute events in collaboration with the Development and Communications teams,  including:
    • Small events for donor appreciation and/or in-depth education
    • Larger community events to increase community awareness of LandWatch’s work, celebrating milestones, and/or collaborating with partner organizations.
  • Manage volunteer network and utilize this resource on an as-needed basis to assist with LandWatch events and other volunteer opportunities. 

Administrative (20%):

  • Screening and forwarding voicemail messages and emails to the appropriate internal contact(s)
  • Managing postage and mailing needs for the Development Team: buying stamps, mailing sustaining member perks;
  • Monitor supply levels of LandWatch office supplies and reorder as needed; 
  • Assist with general office support, including technology and software; and
  • Additional administrative tasks as needed. 

Other (10%):  

  • Actively participate in weekly staff meetings, board meetings as necessary, work planning, DEI initiatives, and other organization-wide efforts; 
  • Work with LandWatch’s programmatic staff to form a deep understanding of our mission-driven work; and
  • Perform duties required of all staff to support internal operations including submitting expense reports, invoice requests, reimbursement requests, and timesheets.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion through past job experience, volunteer, organizing, activism or lived experience, or any other related experience; 
  • Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple workflows at once; 
  • Motivated self-starter who can work independently; 
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and spoken communication skills;  
  • Excellent computer skills or desire to cultivate them, specifically MS Office, Excel, Adobe Suite, Google Sheets and Docs, and donor management software; 
  • Ability to build rapport with donors, volunteers, and the public with diplomacy, discretion, and customer-service orientation, both in person and on the phone; 
  • Ability to thrive and work effectively as part of a small team in a fast-paced and rapidly growing program; and
  • Must be able to meet deadlines.

Work Environment

We offer a flexible workplace environment with a casual dress code. Employees currently work both from home and/or from our offices depending on their work style and preferences. Our offices are located within Embark Bend coworking space, at 2843 NW Lolo Dr. Ste. 200, Bend, OR 97703. We have several private office suites located on the second floor: 

  • There are wide stairs, wide hallways, and an elevator; 
  • Non-gender-neutral bathrooms on both floors with multiple stalls, including ADA stalls and showers (showers in the first-floor bathroom only); 
  • Office suites have floor-to-ceiling windows to the hallway, outside windows, non-fluorescent lighting, and wide sliding glass doors; 
  • Combination sit/stand desk, adjustable height; 
  • No automatic doors.
