Development / Director Position

Prairie Rivers of Iowa is seeking a part time Fundraiser/Director who is willing and able to do fundraising and administrative tasks of the organization. 

Fundraising and Financial Management

  • Lead the success of a Fundraising and giving program to ensure Prairie Rivers financial stability and sustainability.
  • Assist staff in securing resources and funding to implement organizational and program strategic plans. 
  • Oversee day to day financial matters of the organization including budget adherence, grant application processes, financial reports including payroll. 
  • Represent Prairie Rivers while advocating for our programs, building solid relationships, marketing our information, and educating on what we do. 
  • Cultivate relationships with existing supporters, especially nurturing new major funders like individuals, private businesses, foundations, and government agencies. 
  • Report to a diverse, engaged nonprofit Board of Directors aligned with Prairie Rivers of Iowa’s mission. 

Qualifications:

  • Previous successful fundraising experience is preferred with non-profit organizations.
  • Experience in successful donor relationships, fundraising activities, and financial management, 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen well, build trust, and work effectively with and value differences of diverse groups of individuals. 
  • An undergraduate degree is required, advanced degree is preferred; work experience may substitute.
  • High level of financial fundraising and management experience 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Prairie Rivers of Iowa is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit, founded 25 years ago in Ames, Iowa.  Our mission is to promote learning and development through the restoration and conservation of Iowa’s cultural and natural resources as we elevate the integrity of the natural, historical and cultural resources in Iowa.
