SALARY: $60,000-$65,000
ABOUT AAFSC:
The Arab-American Family Support Center (AAFSC) is a
non-profit, non-sectarian organization established in
1994 to provide culturally and linguistically competent,
trauma-informed social services. Our mission is to empower
immigrants and refugees with the tools they need to successfully
acclimate to the world around them and become active participants
in their communities. While our doors are open to all, AAFSC
has developed cultural and
linguistic expertise in serving members of NYC’s
Arab, Middle Eastern, North African, Muslim, and South Asian
(AMENAMSA) immigrant and refugee communities. AAFSC
promotes mental and physical well-being and community power.
We ensure families are knowledgeable about their rights and
equipped to participate in civic society with confidence
and security. We help prevent child abuse, and work
to end domestic- and gender-based violence.
We provide the tools for learners of every age to
succeed. Finally, we help lift up the voices
and needs of under-represented communities and champion gender-,
racial-, restorative-, and immigrant justice.
JOB SUMMARY:
AAFSC seeks a dynamic and detail-oriented professional to help
ensure best-in-class cultivation and stewardship for funders.
A successful person in this role will be a strong writer, an
effective project manager, and have a record as a trusted partner
to senior leadership. A commitment to immigrant, refugee, and
low-income communities is essential for this role.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cultivation and Stewardship Activities
- Develop a pipeline of funder prospects (public and private) and
work with the CDO on establishing appropriate
plans for cultivating them - Plan and execute donor engagement strategies, including regular
outreach, events, and communications - Take the lead on prepping staff, including executive staff, for
major donor meetings, conferences, events, and speaking
engagements, including coordinating scheduling, prospect research,
and agenda setting - Manage necessary follow up with donors and prospects by the
appropriate staff person/principal - Represent AAFSC confidently at City Council meetings,
government hearings, advocacy campaigns, funder conversations,
coalition meetings, and more
Grant Writing Contract Management
- Support with writing and copy-editing high-quality proposals,
applications, concept notes, briefs, letters of inquiry, and other
written materials for submission to private and government
funders - Maintain well-organized records of all funding proposals,
reports, and contracts
Contract Management
- Process and manage all funder contracts and grant agreements
for AAFSC - Ensure that required materials are submitted to funders in a
timely manner; for public funding, help maintain compliance with
city and state agencies’ requirements - Update and maintain all funder portals
- Coordinate the production of budgets and invoices with AAFSC’s
finance team - Maintain communication and facilitate coordination between
AAFSC program staff and development team to ensure timely and
accurate reporting and to ensure program staff are well-informed
about funding proposals and requirement
Other duties and responsibilities
- Participate in AAFSC meetings, trainings, and events
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Attend external meetings and trainings as scheduled
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Experiencing writing high-quality grant proposals
- Passion for learning, problem-solving, distilling lessons and
turning them into proposals for funding and corrective action as
needed - Able to thrive in an environment of innovation, including
stretching resources and managing knowledge - Excellent organizational, time-management, follow-up, and
administrative skills with a strong attention to detail - Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as a
part of a team in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment - Experience working with immigrant, refugee and low-income
communities preferred - Strong technology skills, including using Microsoft Office
products as well as navigating and using government and internal
databases - Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to manage
crises, attend events, or meetings - Job contingent on pre-employment background check and
fingerprint clearance - U.S. Work Authorization is required
