OUR HOUSE Grief Support Center is the premier provider of grief
support services in Southern California. For three decades, OUR
HOUSE has helped thousands of children, teens, and adults in Los
Angeles County find healing after the death of someone close. Our
vision is to create a world in which grief is embraced, understood,
and respected. Currently, OUR HOUSE is exploring the opportunity to
bring its unique model of grief support from Los Angeles to New
York. To support fundraising efforts, we are seeking a talented,
motivated, and proven Development Manager/Consultant to join the OH
New York team and play a key leadership role in achieving OUR HOUSE
New York fundraising goals through donor engagement, grants
management, and events.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Donor Engagement
- Support Advisory Board Chair in all coordination,
implementation, and follow-up pertaining to donor meetings and
gatherings. - Manage all donor activity tracking and acknowledgement through
DonorPerfect and QGiv fundraising database solutions. - Create donor communications and other collateral as
required.
Grants Management
- Lead grant proposal development and submission—preparing and
organizing materials for proposals and submitting and monitoring
grant applications. - Execute grant agreements and acknowledgement letters for
corporate and foundation supporters. - Maintain grant compliance and reporting, including outcome
measurement and grant budgets. - Research statistics, trends, and data for grant proposals and
community advocacy.
Event Planning
- Design and implement events following a development plan that
includes budgets, timelines, retention strategies, fundraising
initiatives (including corporate sponsorships), volunteer committee
development and engagement, marketing/PR, logistics and
operations. - Achieve event revenue targets and expense budgets with
accountability for budgeted goals. - Develop community contacts to recruit high level volunteer
leadership on event planning committees and in garnering community
support. - Collaborate with OH staff and volunteer leadership to solicit
donations from their networks.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or equivalent experience required.
- Demonstrated analytical and persuasive writing experience as
well as superior editing skills. - Experience in developing, managing, and producing nonprofit
fundraising events. - Proven hands-on experience working in collaboration with
staff and volunteers to achieve event revenue goals,
while developing and managing ongoing annual partnerships with
community volunteers and leaders. - Demonstrated interest in grief support and the mission, vision,
and values of OUR HOUSE, and comfort with grief narratives and
conversations. - Commitment to Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion,
including use of empowering, person-centered language that honors
the dignity of our clients.
