Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, established in December 1991 by General Assembly resolution 46/182. OCHA is the part of the United Nations Secretariat responsible for bringing together humanitarian actors to ensure a coherent response to emergencies. OCHA also ensures there is a framework within which each actor can contribute to the overall response efforts. OCHA”s mission is to mobilize and coordinate effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors in order to alleviate human suffering in disasters and emergencies; advocate the rights of people in need; promote preparedness and prevention and facilitate sustainable solutions.
The Learning and Development Team is seeking the help of an Online Volunteer to design and develop one or more e-learning products for upload to the OCHA Learn platform, OneGMS Academy. Ideally, these products will include gamification elements to improve the learning experience.
The OneGMS Academy is envisioned to be a structured e-learning and training program hosted on Moodle, designed to equip users with the knowledge and skills to effectively use the OCHA managed One Grant Management System (OneGMS). It seeks to provide courses tailored to each user roles, reduce reliance on ad-hoc onboarding by OCHA staff, and promote efficiency, accountability, and transparency in the use of pooled fund resources.
The online volunteer will collaborate closely with the One Grant Management (OneGMS) Unit and the Learning and Development Unit (LDU) team, including the Learning and Development Officer, Assistant, and one Intern, who will provide guidance and support as needed.
We are seeking an enthusiastic online volunteer to undertake the following tasks for one learning module (Module 1)
Content Review:
• Review theme-specific content provided in the format of a storyboard or annotated outline for module 1.
• Examine the main reference materials such as online Help Portal Guidance (15 webpages max), dedicated PPT slides (5 max), short video tutorials (5 max), brief guidance documents (4 max), and other resources selected by OneGMS Unit.
Content Editing and Curation:
• Support in excerpting selected video or recording cuts.
• Reformat, curate, and edit content as required.
Course Development:
• Develop 1 short module (up to 1 hour) based on agreed materials and gamification approaches using Articulate authoring tools (Rise).
• Create SCORM packages as needed.
The online volunteer shall:
• Have a working knowledge of Articulate 360.
• Have experience with Instructional Design and gamification approaches
• Be familiar with the Moodle platform.
• Have excellent English language proficiency.
• Have attention to details.
• Experience with graphic design is desirable.
• A good understanding of humanitarian-related topics is a plus.
The role will involve collaborating with the learning and development unit regularly, preferably through MS Teams and email.
