Development Officer

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Vice President of Business Development, the Development Officer will assist the organization by pursuing restricted and unrestricted funding from a variety of philanthropic sources, participate in fundraising drives, and preparing funding requests to philanthropic organizations, corporations, and independent donors.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Help to develop, maintain, and track fundraising objectives and policies for the organization
• Research individuals, corporations, and foundations that are interested in gift giving
• Effectively convey the organization’s mission, vision, and programs to potential donors.
• Strategize and successfully execute fundraising campaigns
• Prepare funding requests to philanthropic organizations under the supervision of the Vice President of Business Development, as needed
• Assist the President/CEO, Vice Presidents, board of directors, and other stakeholders with public fundraising drives
• Assist in organizing fundraising events and developing fundraising campaigns.
• Update and maintain donor database
• Collaborate with the senior management to prepare annual fundraising budgets and projections
• Perform other related tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Required
• Bachelor’s degree
• At least five years of direct experience fundraising for international non-profit organizations
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent analytical abilities that can be applied in aligning the organizations objectives with available fundraising opportunities
• Strong research skills
• Ability to successfully balance priorities while managing multiple tasks
• Knowledge of the MENA-related philanthropic sector
• Experience with basic programmatic budgeting
• Ability to travel both domestically and internationally as needed

Preferred
• Certification, diploma, or similar qualification in fundraising
• Competence with donor management systems
• Event planning experience
• Familiarity with the MENA region
• Experience with non-profits operating internationally
