Summary
The Development Prospect Research Manager (DPRM) works
collaboratively with leadership to develop data informed prospect
strategies and keep a dynamic prospect pipeline moving
forward.
Reporting to the Director of Development – Major
Gifts, the Development Prospect
Research Manager (DPRM) is an integral member of the
Development team responsible for applying specialized research
techniques to provide in-depth description and analysis on
individuals,
corporations and foundations including maintaining metrics
and reports that will provide analysis and interpretation of
portfolio performance and keep active portfolios up to
date and prioritized.
This is expected to be a two-year position with
continuation contingent on continued funding.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Conducts in-depth prospect research on corporations,
foundations, and individual major gift prospects (including
current and prospective donors, as well as extended individual and
organizational relationships) using a wide variety of biographical,
organizational, anecdotal, and financial sources with the goal
of generating new donors and fostering strategically important
relationships for Campaign and major gift cultivation. - Analyzes, interprets, and evaluates biographical, business,
personal and financial information for current and prospective
donors. - Prepares high quality profiles and strategic briefings on
prospects and/or groups of prospects for Development staff and
leadership in advance of contact or events to
obtain optimal outcomes. - Proactively reviews donor prospect assignments to ensure
movement and solicitation strategy in relationship
to capacity and affinity. - Leads prospect management program to give structure and vision
to the fundraising process by way of comprehensive and strategic
analysis of prospect pools; prospect pipeline development; and
presentation of meaningful data as it relates to fundraising
activities and new campaign initiatives. - Oversees the management and analysis of caseload development
and optimization, prospect research requests, and
must maintain a close partnership with the fundraising
team while working to maximize pipeline development in support of
the Foundation’s fundraising goals. - Coordinates regular meetings for the research
and prospect management team, producing regular reports, and
monitoring productivity and quality metrics. - Analyzes wealth screening data to identify new donor
prospects. - Manages database functionality relating to prospect and moves
management by maintaining data integrity, constituent
attribute coding and performing routine database
cleanup. - Creates custom reports for analysis and interpretation of
portfolio performance. - Monitors local, national, and business news and events for
individual donor prospects and corporate and foundation
prospects. - Other related duties.

fundraising initiatives. - Experience with fundraising databases, reporting and

services. - Demonstrated ability in research techniques such as prospect
identification, data mining and relationship mapping. - High-level proficiency using MS Office Suite, with
emphasis on Excel.
- Knowledge of the range of resources available to prospective
researchers and the ability to apply those resources in an
organized and purposeful manner. - Demonstrated communications skills for writing, speaking,
listening for understanding, and presenting and adapting content
for a range of audiences. - Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, synthesize, and
present complex information effectively. - Professionalism in adhering to best practices in database
management and discretion in handling confidential donor and
prospect information. - Ability to work collaboratively and independently while
managing multiple projects and deadlines. - Ability to adapt to shifting priorities with high
efficiency and thorough attention to detail and follow
through. - Demonstrated interpersonal and collaboration skills with an
openness to new ideas and perspectives on a wide range of
topics. - Ability to meet physical demands typical of a sedentary office
environment with reasonable accommodations as needed
Education and Experience
Degree requirements can be substituted with equivalent practical
experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Five or more years of experience in prospect research,
development, library research or information related field
(marketing, fundraising, event planning) or any equivalent
combination of education, training, and experience.
Location and office information:
Hartford, CT; Hybrid schedule.
