Job Description

Brisbane Domestic Violence Service (BDVS) is the specialist domestic violence service for the Brisbane metropolitan region. Brisbane Domestic Violence Service is funded by the Department of Justice and Attorney General to provide free and confidential services to adults and children who have been impacted by domestic and family violence. BDVS has a focus on achieving safety and stability for the individuals and families that we support.

How you will make a Difference:

As a Specialist DFV Child and Youth Advocate you will work as part of the BDVS team to support children, young people and protective primary care givers impacted by domestic and family violence, to live free from violence and to assist with the emotional and practical needs and issues arising from their experience.

There are full time and part time permanent employment opportunities, with conditions and salary at Level 4/5 of the SCHADS Award dependant on qualifications and/or experience.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

To be considered for this role, you’ll need to hold a relevant qualification and/or extensive experience, or a combination of experience, expertise, and competence.

You will also have Knowledge of or ability to acquire relevant knowledge of legislation and regulations, such as The Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012 Section 5A Information Sharing, the Child Protection Act 1999, and an understanding of the Family Law Act.

You will also have experience in working with children and families who have experienced domestic and family violence, including case management and group facilitation skills. As well as knowledge of and ability to apply a trauma informed approach to service delivery with children, young people and parents in support and advocacy.
