HOURS: 37.5 hours per week (flexible working)

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Digital Community Activator you’ll be developing, capturing and delivering inspiring digital
content, predominantly through video and photo, for our online channels.

You will be out in all conditions, capturing content on the trails that demonstrates how to
take part in our projects, programmes and wider organisational activity. You will role model
our DIO (Do It Ourselves) philosophy, developing and delivering inspiring and entertaining
content that you feature in, encouraging our audience to get out there and contribute to our
mission.

This content will drive awareness and centre engagement, increasing understanding, inspiring
new people, and activating our audience to join in by protecting the trails they love.

You’ll work across Trash Free Trails’ portfolio of programmes, projects and events, manifesting
our aims and objectives into content in unique and engaging ways. You’ll work to centre and
celebrate our community and their contributions to our mission, no matter how big or small, as
well as showcase how to be a committed ‘TrashMobber’.

You’ll also support the administration of TFT’s digital communications, contributing to and
integrating storytelling into every facet of our outputs. You’ll support the full journey of
delivering high quality content. You will lead on monitoring social channels and seeking
opportunities that are responsive to new trends.

The Digital Community Activator will report directly to the Communications Manager and work
closely with the Programmes team and freelancers on a daily basis. You’ll be immersed in our
ecosystem of volunteers, ambassadors, Community Hubs, freelancers and partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Content creation

  • Create impactful, story driven content for a range of social channels that connects
    powerfully with our audiences and community
  • Create person-driven photo, video and graphic content for a range of social channels that
    connects powerfully with our audience and activates them to undertake positive environmental
    action in line with our mission
  • Produce inspiring content you feature in which encourages our community to take action
  • Work with the HQ team, freelancers, volunteer ambassadors, Community Hubs and wider
    TrashMob community to develop content
  • Create content that speaks directly to the aims and objectives of our programmes and
    projects, as well as the wider organisational strategy and mission and brand guidelines
  • Seek out opportunities to collaborate with inspiring content creators who share our values
    and aims
  • Collaborate across TFT to identify storytelling opportunities; developing innovative new
    ways of telling stories about TFT’s work and mission through diverse formats

Content administration and coordination

  • Work with the Communications team to build our online presence, reputation, and meaningful
    engagement with key audiences through our communications and content
  • Support coordination of our digital channels, developing schedules and content plans that
    reflect programmes, campaigns and our mission
  • Collaboratively oversee a digital content calendar working with team members to coordinate
    and prioritise projects and messages
  • Develop innovative storytelling and content ideas which elevate and increase TFT’s mission
    amongst our target audience
  • Regularly track, monitor and report on digital activity to prove impact, maximise
    effectiveness in support of community activation
  • Manage day-to-day social media to drive engagement, sharing responsibility for monitoring
    and responding to enquiries
  • Support the creation and distribution of digital media packs for projects and campaigns,
    enabling our wider ecosystem to join in
  • Support the wider team in creating and publishing content across digital channels
  • Keep ahead of innovation and developments in digital activation, including seeking training
    and advising on new tools and platforms

WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Outstanding digital skills across online channels and social media administration.
  • Outstanding content creation skills including video and photo editing and basic graphic
    design.
  • Excellent written, editing and communication skills.
  • Confident and engaging presenting and public speaking, both online and in person
  • Proven ability to work independently, taking the initiative to solve problems whilst
    knowing when to defer decision making and seek involvement of team members.
  • Ability to self-manage and prioritise workflow to deliver communications tasks to deadline
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite, Google Workspace and remote-working tools.
