Position Purpose: Working with the marketing and communications team, the Digital Content Specialist will assist in the development and implementation of marketing strategies across all digital channels to meet organizational needs. We are looking for a creative, self-starter who stays ahead of digital trends and is not afraid to pivot as needed, to better reach intended audiences. This individual will own the day-to-day management of all organic social media channels for Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana and Fresh Connect Centra, a social enterprise subsidiary of the food bank. This includes planning, scheduling, posting, and analyzing content. This position will collaborate with the Creative Services Specialist to maintain brand standards and reports to the Director of Marketing. All responsibilities shall be consistent with Gleaners Food Bank’s mission to be leader the fight against hunger.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with marketing, Fresh Connect Central, and senior leadership teams to create engaging content that aligns with brand. Ensure content is optimized for each platform.
  • Work with Director of Marketing to execute digital marketing strategies, maintaining editorial calendars for Gleaners and Fresh Connect Central.
  • Actively engage with audiences on all platforms, responding to messages and comments in a timely manner and escalating any questions or issues as necessary.
  • Manage time-sensitive content, ensuring timeliness of urgent posts.
  • Shoot and edit photo and video content within brand parameters and style.
  • Manage collection of storytelling assets such as photos, videos, and blog posts. Oversee the filing of such assets in a centralized story bank.
  • Assist with email marketing efforts, including maintaining monthly e-newsletter, using Salesforce marketing Cloud.
  • Help with website management for Gleaners and Fresh Connect Central as needed.
  • Monitor, report, and leverage KPIs to benchmark and optimize content strategy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities an individual needs in order to perform this job successfully.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience in marketing, communications or related field.
  • 2+ years of social media management experience for a brand or organization preferred.
  • Must have a strong understanding of the social media space, social communities, and trends.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone and messaging to various platforms and target audiences.
  • Proficiency with social media management platforms such as Meta Business Suite, Later and more.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with Salesforce marketing tools a plus.
  • Ability to construct social analytics reports to constantly improve our channels.
  • Fundamental content creation skills in social media writing, photo editing, and video editing.
  • Strong organizational skills with a proclivity for efficient workflows.
  • Ability to manage a deadline-driven work environment, responding quickly and professionally to competing priorities.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, enthusiasm, and teamwork.
  • Ability to work with others, both verbally and face-to-face.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think both strategically and creatively.
  • Capacity to work well, build rapport, and make a persuasive case for support with diverse constituent groups, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
