Australia for UNHCR is the UN Refugee Agency’s national partner in Australia, raising awareness and funds to support UNHCR’s global emergency response to humanitarian crises.

Established in 2000, A4U has raised over $480m from individual donors, philanthropists and corporates, leading to direct impact on the ground delivering emergency support such as shelter, protection, clean water, food and medicines.

Impact you will make in this role

As the Digital Marketing Manager, you will play a key role in strategically overseeing and implementing the organisation’s digital marketing initiatives to support fundraising efforts. This position is essential for driving the organisation’s digital transformation and will involve managing 4 permanent staff plus additional contractors and external agencies and working across all digital channels, including the website, paid social media, email marketing, mobile and SMS, with a focus on donor acquisition, development, and stewardship.

We are looking for a digital-savvy professional with strong technical expertise in performance marketing to elevate the organisation’s digital presence. You will have a proven track record of managing agencies and a background in inspiring, motivating and leading a team.

The ideal candidate will work closely with a motivated, innovative team and collaborate with various departments throughout the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Head of Fundraising to develop the annual and long-term digital roadmap for Australia and New Zealand.
  • Manage and execute an innovative digital fundraising strategy, focusing on both offline and online campaigns, including one-time and regular giving programs.
  • Optimise digital donor acquisition, development, user experience, and e-commerce initiatives.
  • Lead activities with external agencies and suppliers.
  • Support the Emergency Strategy as required, including overseeing implementation of relevant digital fundraising activities.
  • Oversee the stewardship and development of digital donor journeys.
  • Analyse donor data to identify patterns for improving the donor experience.
  • Increase internal awareness of the digital donor journey and key metrics.
  • Supervise SEO and CRO strategies, implementing best practices to enhance organic rankings and conversion rates.
  • Support the organisation’s digital transformation strategy for optimisation and user experience.
  • Assist in planning and executing a digital test and learn program.
  • Provide insights on fundraising and user trends across digital platforms.
  • Coach and develop a team to improve skills and meet performance expectations.
  • Bring a motivating, nurturing and inspiring leadership style to the digital team that you will manage.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in digital marketing, campaign management, project management, e-commerce, media advertising, and data analytics.
  • Previous experience in implementing integrated multichannel digital marketing campaigns for fundraising across various channels (web, social, mobile, SMS, email), or from a relevant commercial setting.
  • Strong ability to develop and analyse campaign plans and recommend improvements to increase performance.
  • Skilled in using Google AdWords, Analytics, Tag Manager, and producing analytical reports and dashboards.
  • Knowledgeable about payment gateways and e-commerce systems.
  • Proven people management experience with the ability to support, coach and develop a team.
  • A passion to advocate and fundraise for refugee protection, emergency aid, and long-term support and solutions.
