Job summary

Imperial is looking for a new Web and SEO specialist to lead our Digital Marketing team and drive the digital strategy for the Study section of the Imperial website (imperial.ac.uk/study) and related student recruitment microsites.

Imperial is a world top 10 university and the only UK university to specialise solely in science, engineering, medicine and business. Our Study website is a critical tool in engaging the brightest and most promising students from around the world.

As the Digital Marketing Manager within the university’s central Marketing team, you will lead a team of digital marketing professionals, co-ordinating their work in creating user-friendly journeys and comprehensive, accurate information about our courses and the student experience.

Equipped with a data-first mindset, you will provide recommendations on and oversee the implementation of ongoing innovations across the digital space (apps, platforms, new digital ideas), aligned to our broader student recruitment strategy and analysis of audience need.

You will also lead a search strategy that encompasses the broad spectrum of ways that users search for content, from SEO to voice search.

Duties and responsibilities

The Digital Marketing Manager (Web and SEO) will be responsible for:

  • Leading, planning and implementing digital marketing and SEO strategy for the Study section of imperial.ac.uk including: understanding the role of the website site in the admissions journey and instilling standard methodology for testing and optimisation into the Digital Marketing team.
  • Leading, planning and implementing digital marketing and SEO strategy for other student recruitment microsites including New Students and the Imperial virtual tour.
  • Driving UX and brand consistency and excellence throughout our student recruitment web presences.
  • Working with select agencies to devise and develop new templates and functionality; feed into requirements and help prioritise the ongoing upgrade of the Study website.
  • Leading improvements of our web maintenance and development processes: leading all aspects of quality assurance, co-ordinating online assets including creative, content, data capture forms etc.
  • Leading the tools and software we use for web and SEO; conducting keyword research; analysing web trends and optimisation tools.
  • Developing website and SEO channel strategies for marketing, standard methodology and processes and working alongside the Marketing Manager (Campaigns and CRM) to implement these strategies.
  • Leading and inspiring a team of Digital Marketing professionals.
  • Staying on top of website and SEO trends, legislative developments, and opportunities/innovations.
  • Reporting on web and search performance of our annual campaigns.

Essential requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Substantial experience of leading a website and SEO function in a large, complex company.
  • Clear communication skills and stakeholder management experience to aid working with different teams and agencies.
  • A data-first approach.
  • Experience in UX, customer journey mapping, wireframes and optimal web page builds.
  • Substantial experience in using SEO tools and measuring and analysing website and SEO performance data.
  • Experience in delivering against tight deadlines and implementing multiple web pages/projects simultaneously.
