Who is the ACF?

When it comes to our environment, the Australian Conservation Foundation has been leading the way in protecting our living world for over half a century.

We are the national environment organisation committed to caring for Australia’s unique and beautiful wildlife and natural world. We’re inclusive, non-partisan and funded by the Australian community.

Whether it’s advocating for the Great Barrier Reef, koalas snoozing in big old trees or for strong climate action, our dedicated community of more than half a million people are constantly working to create a world where forests, rivers, people, and wildlife thrive.

What’s the gig?

Reporting to the National Organising Manager you’ll work with a team of highly skilled organisers, campaigners and communications experts across Australia who want to win big for nature.

The Digital Organiser builds the infrastructure and skill across the ACF Community that helps our place-based groups run local strategies that win national campaigns. You’ll also be finding new and innovative ways to grow communities online and offline and help the Organising Team measure and scale our people power work Australia wide.

The Digital Organiser designs and deliver strategies that support the Organising team, and the ACF Community to build a thriving movement for nature. You’ll be working to build the online presence and capabilities of our community and experimenting with new ways to connect people to act together, for nature.

About you!

You love nature and you love people power and deeply believe that people acting together can turn the tide of the climate and extinction crisis. You love trying new things, fail fast and love connecting with and supporting the community to get active for nature.

You are an experienced organiser who can support, mentor and coach members and volunteer leaders to develop local plans that help to win national campaigns. You understand the cycle of building and deploying people power when needed.

You are highly digitally literate and familiar with CRMS (like Nationbuilder and Supporterbase) and social media tools. You’re comfortable “on the tools” (and learning new ones) and enjoy supporting others to learn about how to use them. You love data and are proficient in using data to report and evaluate.

You’ve got excellent written and oral communication skills, and a willingness to get ‘out and about’ and engage with people. Your commitment to the protecting the environment is evident in everything you do and demonstrated through your empathy for the challenges facing local communities.

Why work for us?

You’ll do important work with one of Australia’s most impactful organisations, and with our world-class organisational culture and great team, we guarantee you’ll have fun along the way.

ACF is proud to offer our staff a supportive workplace with excellent conditions, including:

  • Genuine flexibility in working hours and location

  • Thirty days of personal leave a year (pro-rata) available to use immediately upon commencement
  • Superannuation contribution of 11.5%
  • Access to Long Service Leave after five years of continuous service
  • Eighteen weeks paid parental leave for parents (regardless of who is the birth parent) after 12 months of service
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities tailored to your individual career goals
  • Regular team and whole organisation retreats so we can plan, learn and grow together
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Program and wellbeing support
