Full-timeRef: 26745Hours: Full-timeContracted Hours: 39Contract Type: PermanentLocation: Chester House, Epsom Ave, Handforth, Cheadle, Greater Manchester, SK9 3RNDescriptionWe are seeking a dynamic Product Owner to oversee the development, enhancement, and maintenance of our products across Digital and Pet Care centres. This pivotal role ensures that products align with business objectives and meet consumer needs, acting as a bridge between consumers, stakeholders, and engineering teams.In this role the Product Owner will need to work collaboratively with colleagues from across the organisation, research, UX, UI and Engineering to ensure that the vision for the product increment is clearly understood, it solves consumers problems and will create the best possible outcomes for our consumers and the business.Key Responsibilities
- Gather all of the requirements associated with the backlog candidates to understand the appropriate sequencing.
- Stakeholder mapping to ensure the right colleagues are involved throughout
- Working with stakeholders, data and consumer insight to clearly define the initiative outcomes.
- Creating product briefs that articulate the problem statements and opportunities
- Engage with business stakeholders to ensure that product briefs are focused on the key outcomes that align to the business strategy.
- Provide research and UX with the right level of information to support the Discovery process, ensuring focus on the key outcomes throughout
- Identify all of the business processes and systems that will be impacted by the initiative
- Work with Engineering architecture to articulate the requirements
- Provide updates at key milestones during the process to the business stakeholders
- Ability to identify when to pivot and stop Product Discovery, ensuring the relevant learnings are shared within the business
- Manage the delivery sequence for each initiative to deliver the quickest speed to value
- Work with delivery leads to create small product release increments within the overall initiative, creating a sequence that can be shared with the business to supporting understanding and planning
- Make sure that the Scrum squad fully understand why the product creates value
- Represent the consumer and business needs for the product, always being available to answer and support the team
- Identifying when to engage stakeholders to support key decisions ensuring continual alignment and buy in
- Accountable for creating user stories and ensuring stories are “ready” for development to begin
- Accountable for ensuring each story has the correct acceptance criteria associated to it
- Support the delivery lead with the squad ceremonies
- Prepare the product launch and associated business readiness activities
- Prioritise defect or bug resolution
- Work with cross functional team to sign off on release candidates
- Effective hand over to the relevant business team/s where appropriate
- Support ways of working iterations and improvements by championing retrospective actions
- Measure the product success post launch and identify key defects and optimization backlog candidates
This is a ‘hybrid’ role, so involves working two days per week from our Support Office in Handforth (Cheshire).Essential Experience, Knowledge & ExpertiseThe role requires:
- At least 2 years experience of operating in a product role
- Strong understanding of the methodology associated with Product Discovery
- Strong understanding of the Scrum methodology
- Prior experience of working directly with Engineering squads on a daily basis
- Hands on experience of working with research, UX and UI teams
- Demonstrated success in releasing products that have met or exceeded business objectives
Desirable Experience, Knowledge & ExpertiseThe role requires:
- Experience in either an Omnichannel organisation or pure play Ecommerce business
- Proven experience and track record of identifying, implementing and delivering change across an Omnichannel organisation
- Experience in a direct to consumer environment e.g. retail
