About the role

As a Digital Security Specialist at TI, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding our organisation’s digital infrastructure and data. You will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating digital security risks, developing incident response procedures, and conducting digital security training for staff members. The successful candidate will have a strong background in cybersecurity, excellent communication skills, and a passion for contributing to the mission of TI.

Salary Band: salary according to TI-S internal salary structure; for this position corresponding to band PF2 salary range starting around EUR 48,000.00 gross per year depending on relevant experience

Starting Date: 01.07.2024; start date flexible

Contract Duration: Currently we can offer an employment contract limited for a duration of 2 years. There is a prospect of extension subject to organisational need continuing, performance proven and funding confirmed and there is interest in a stable and long-term cooperation.

Main accountabilities of the role

Based in the Technology Team and reporting to the Technology Manager, the Digital Security Specialist (m/f/d) will:        

  • Manage digital security risk (Conduct regular assessments of TI’s digital infrastructure and assets to identify and  evaluate potential security risks; Develop and implement strategies to mitigate digital security threats and vulnerabilities)
  • Stay abreast of the latest cybersecurity trends, technologies, and threats to ensure TI’s systems are adequately protected
  • Create and maintain incident response procedures to effectively address and manage security incidents
  • Coordinate with relevant teams to ensure a swift and organized response to digital security incidents
  • Conduct post-incident reviews to identify areas for improvement and enhance incident response protocols
  • Design and deliver digital security training programs for TI staff members to enhance their awareness and understanding of cybersecurity best practices
  • Develop educational materials, guidelines, and resources to support ongoing digital security training initiatives
  • Respond to digital security incidents, including suspicious activity alerts flagged by Microsoft 365 and intrusion detection systems
  • Work closely with IT teams, management, and relevant stakeholders to integrate digital security measures into TI’s daily operations
  • Liaise with external digital security experts and civil society organisations to exchange information about emerging threats and mitigation strategies

Candidate profile

In order to succeed in this role, candidates will need to meet the following:

  • Relevant professional qualification/s; relevant university degree is an asset
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience ensuring the digital security of a medium size, preferably international, organisation
  • Familiarity with civil society organisations and an understanding of their unique digital security challenges is desirable
  • Demonstrate experience of risk management
  • Demonstrated experience of delivering digital security trainings
  • Demonstrated experience of creating and implementing incident response procedures
  • Demonstrated experience securing SaaS solutions such as Microsoft 365 & Microsoft Azure
  • Experience of conducting or commissioning risk assessments and security audits, including vulnerability scanning and penetration testing
  • Experience of responding to digital security incidents
  • Experience working with ITSM tools like Freshservice
  • Strong understanding of digital security frameworks and best practices
  • Familiarity with the ITIL framework of best practice for IT Service Management
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose and resolve issues effectively and efficiently
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to successfully manage priorities in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate digital security matters to individuals with diverse backgrounds
  • High degree of service orientation and ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure
  • Professional language proficiency in English; additional languages as an asset
