Our Future Health will be the UK’s largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to develop new ways to detect, prevent and treat diseases. We are a charity, supported by the UK Government, in partnership with charities and industry. We work closely with the NHS and with public authorities across all nations and regions of the UK.Our plan is to bring together 5 million volunteers from right across the UK who will be asked to contribute information to help build one of the most detailed pictures we have ever had of people’s health. Researchers will be able to use this information to make new discoveries about human health and diseases. So future generations can live in good health for longer.What you’ll be doing:We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about crafting seamless digital workplaces! Our next ideal Digital Workplace Engineer has solid experience optimising M365 setups, from SharePoint to OneDrive. They enjoy working with SaaS tools, automating tasks with PowerShell and Power Automate, and a keen interest in governance and optimisation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams are essential to keep teams engaged and keeping everyone in the loop. Bonus points for leadership and Azure expertise, as well as experience with cloud security best practices.
- M365 Management – Assist in managing and optimising the M365 environment, including SharePoint and OneDrive. Support enhancements and implementation of best practices under the guidance of the lead engineer to boost productivity and collaboration.
- Implement the Best Practices within a Corporate IT Service – Contribute to the development and documentation of best practices within the corporate IT service. Assist in gathering feedback and observations from various teams to ensure practical and effective practices are established under senior guidance.
- Implementing Configuration – Support the definition, implementation, and standardisation of configurations for corporate systems like M365, SharePoint, Jira, and others. Help in maintaining configuration documents and guides under the supervision of senior engineers.
- Shadow IT Management – Aid in identifying and assessing unauthorised IT resources. Contribute to strategies that mitigate shadow IT risks and enhance the visibility of IT assets, aligning with compliance policies.
- Define Standards – Assist in defining and documenting standards for IT systems and practices. Participate in meetings and workshops to understand the rationale behind these standards and help communicate them within the team.
- Governs Execution of Standards – Support the enforcement and governance of standards by helping monitor compliance and adherence to documented practices. Aid senior staff in auditing and reviewing system configurations and practices to ensure alignment with established standards.
- Security and Compliance – Collaborate with the security team to support the protection of M365 and shadow IT resources from cyber threats. Maintain awareness of industry regulations and assist in compliance efforts.
RequirementsTo succeed, you will have some of the following skills and experience:
- Familiarity with digital workplaces such as M365 and other SaaS tools. Interest and capability to learn about governance and optimisation processes.
- Applied knowledge and experience of SharePoint, Teams Administration, Power Apps, and Atlassian Suite apps such as Jira, Confluence etc. Skilled in scripting and automation, utilising PowerShell and Power Automate.
- Exposure to, or understanding of, onboarding and offboarding processes for SaaS tools.
- Keeping abreast of new technologies, industry standards and trends and the M365 roadmap.
- Supporting our business engagement channels (such as our Intranet and SharePoint communications) in line with the M365 update cadence ensuring continuous employee awareness and engagement.
- Understanding of data security principles and eagerness to learn more about compliance and best practices within a digital environment.
- Demonstrates potential for leadership and strategic thinking through academic achievements or team projects.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively on cross-functional teams.
- Experienced in Agile working methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to addressing challenges.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks with guidance.
Highly advantageous but not essential:
- Experience specifically within Azure environments.
- Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments.
- Previous experience in a Digital Workplace team.
