Who is CAN DO?
The Church Agencies Network Disaster Operations.
CAN DO is a consortium of nine experienced Australian church based aid agencies who collaborate on delivering humanitarian aid and disaster preparation and resilience programs. CAN DO is a member of the Australian Humanitarian Partnership with the Australian Government.
The CAN DO Independent Secretariat facilitates the interaction between CAN DO members in finding, winning and distributing new funding, and ensuring donor satisfaction through timely, high quality reporting.
CAN DO members share a strategic vision to support the development of community resilience to disasters and conflict through localised action undertaken with and through church networks.
Who is Caritas Australia?
Caritas Australia is the lead member of the consortium and the host of the CAN DO Secretariat. Secretariat staff are employed by Caritas Australia and supported by their management systems.
What does the role involve?
Reporting to the CAN DO Governance Committee, the Director tendersglobal.net CAN DO Secretariat is responsible for facilitating the interactions between the CAN DO members.
Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- Deliver the mission and purpose of the CAN DO Consortium in line with the strategy and approach set by the CAN DO Governance Committee.
- Drive forward business development initiatives to secure new funding opportunities, while ensuring the delivery of outstanding grant proposals and exceptional reporting.
- Foster cooperative and influential working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with DFAT accreditation standards, ACFID Code of Conduct, and other required standards.
Who are we looking for?
For this role, we are seeking a highly organised and dynamic individual, who is committed to making a difference in the world. The successful candidate will have a mix of the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Over five years’ experience in senior leadership roles within the humanitarian sector, government relation or diplomacy, ideally within faith-based organisations.
- An understanding of and willingness to work within and support the Christian ethos of the member organisations.
- Proven track record in securing grants through competitive processes and crafting winning proposals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation and mediation.
