As a key member of the leadership team of the Career Center, the Director, Career Communities is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive and robust industry education program that is fully integrated into the Career Center’s programs and positions Hamilton as a leader in industry education and post-graduate preparation. The inaugural Director, Career Communities reports to the Executive Director of Maurice Horowitch Career Center and will be part of the College Advancement office.
In addition to launching and leading the Center’s industry education efforts, the Director partners with a high-functioning career services team across work streams in the Career Center. As part of a dynamic and seasoned leadership team, the Director, Career Communities collaborates with the Executive Director, the Career Advising team, and the Director, Employer Engagement to set strategic priorities to further the mission of the Career Center and its broad initiatives and ensure successful execution of the goals.
This is an exempt position with a pay range of $72,000 – $82,000.
Responsibilities
Key components of the position include building upon and reimagining the current industry curriculum to connect alumni to students in meaningful ways pertaining to both career interest and affinities. The Director will develop strategies to:
- Enhance career readiness;
- Direct annual program planning and implementation of key industry initiatives delivered by the Career Center; as well as skills training, and other industry-focused, scaled group efforts;
- Serve as the liaison between the Hamilton Career Network and the Career Center.
Strategic Leadership:
Serve on the Career Center Leadership Team with the following:
- assist the Executive Director with the strategic planning process and day-to-day operations;
- exercise authority on strategy, judgment, budget, and policy related to Career Center’s organizational vision;
- and represent and communicate the direction, goals and decisions set by the leadership team to key constituents as necessary.
Supervisory:
Provide direction, guidance, and supervision of industry education professional staff, industry consultants, and student interns who support industry education programs; encourage and provide opportunities for staff development and growth.
Programmatic:
Collaborate with the Career Center team to ensure all students have access to and engage in industry exploration tools and programs and ensure all students develop a career action plan specific to their industries of interest. Develop necessary strategy and structure for industry education, implementing a common philosophy and approach to industry advising and programming that dovetails with the core career development curriculum.
Partner with the Career Center leadership team in the planning and implementation of key industry education initiatives, including but not limited to:
- build a process for industry exploration and skill development that helps students select industries for further exploration and access curated resources to assist students in evaluating and pursuing career options;
- manage industry consultants;
- oversee student-facing alumni industry-focused programs;
- develop and execute career exploration treks, job shadow programs;
- and offer other scaled group efforts.
Co-coordinate program and advising flows with the Employer Engagement and Career Development teams to ensure that new and re-envisioned programs are additive and not duplicative of services already occurring within the Career Center. Develop a sustainable strategy and infrastructure for connecting alumni to students in meaningful ways along both career interests and affinity-based lines to enhance career readiness.
