Director, Community Relations

INHP is recruiting for a new position entitled, Director of Community Relations.

This position will be responsible for increasing the awareness and maintaining a positive perception of INHP as an effective partner within the housing continuum. This individual will be tasked with strategic visioning, planning, and implementation of community engagement activities to meet the goals and objective of the organization. This individual will spend most of their time out in the community increasing community awareness and engagement that supports qualified lead generation, public education, and stakeholder and donor engagement. This position will be part of the INHP leadership team and will report directly to the Chief Relationship Officer.

The qualified incumbent must have a bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, journalism, public relations or in a related field. In addition, the qualified incumbent must have a minimum of eight years of experience in a public relations or community engagement role. This individual must be a strong communicator and have public speaking skills. In addition, the incumbent should have experience planning and executing small- to large-scale events. Project management experience is preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a comprehensive and cohesive community relations function, including ensuring seamless integration, support and communication across external partners and the internal teams who work with them across a wide range of functions.
  • Develop and execute on strategy for public outreach and meetings to positively influence positive relationships in order to welcome affordable housing project development within communities.
  • Oversee INDI grants, community grantmaking, and external event sponsorship strategy and execution, including partner communications, internal stakeholder coordination, and technology management.
  • Develop and implement a strategic community engagement plan to increase community awareness to support qualified lead generation goals, education programming, and articulate the benefits and missional purpose of INHP’s consumer and community solutions.
  • Serve as an external facing representative to advance INHP’s mission and business objectives.
  • Attend meetings and events in the community that are strategic to partnerships and relationship building for both a department level and enterprise level.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders such as elected officials, CDC leadership, Mayor’s Neighborhood Advocates, and community non-profits and partners.
  • Create positive and impactful relationships with external stakeholders such as community-based development organizations (CBDOs), realtors, economic mobility programs, churches, etc. to enhance grassroots lead generation.
  • Develop and implement strategies to engage impact partners and others in collaborative, system-level thinking.
  • In partnership with the CRO, manage cohesive strategies to ensure INHP representation and influence on boards, advisory bodies, committees, etc. as appropriate in the affordable housing space and others aligned with INHP’s mission.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Director of Communications and Marketing to incorporate products and services into outreach narrative.
  • Promote a corporate culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values growth, learning and a strong commitment to quality.
  • Oversee the sourcing strategy and relationship management of retained outside agencies and other vendors on special projects as appropriate.
  • Facilitate meetings with all departments, with special attention to the relationship of shared resources with Marketing, Communications and Philanthropic Giving department.
  • Attend and participate in Leadership meetings.
  • Provide written and verbal community outreach reports quarterly to the Board of Directors Advancement and Communications committee.
  • Support INHP’s commitment to DEI in all areas of the framework.
