The Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) is committed to helping end heart
rhythm disorders and saving lives. HRS is the international leader
in science, education and advocacy for cardiac arrhythmia
professionals and patients, and the primary information resource on
heart rhythm disorders. HRS’s mission is to improve patient
care by promoting research, education and optimal health care
policies and standards. HRS represents more than 8,500 cardiac
pacing and electrophysiology professionals in over 90
countries.

HRS employs a staff of 49 dedicated professionals who work
collaboratively to support the organization’s mission, guided by

.  HRS is
headquartered in Washington, DC with all staff enjoying a full-time
remote work arrangement. 

Position Summary

Responsible for planning and implementing development and
fundraising programs/strategies in alignment with the Society’s
strategic plan to provide for the short and long-term needs of the
organization.

Responsibilities

Grant Strategy

Prioritize and apply for a steady stream of funding
opportunities that align with the HRS strategic plan, budget needs,
and evolving goals for existing and new projects. 

  • Establish HRS grant strategy specifically for foundations,
    health systems, corporate (domestic and global) educational grants
    at HRS Annual Meeting, federal and research.
  • Collaborate with the programs and policy teams to ensure
    proposal designs are responsive to and compliant
  • Negotiate grant and contract agreements and ensure requirements
    are flowed to cross-functional teams.
  • Establish, evaluate, and regularly update HRS’
    program/service/product development process and menu of
    services.

Business Development
      

  • Serve as primary account executive for non-Infinity Circle
    companies.
  • Support sales of HRS programs
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends, best practices, and
    funder priorities; adjust fundraising strategies accordingly and
    ensure appropriate staff are aware.
  • Implement strategy for prospecting new leads.
  • Develop and refine new project ideas to carry out objectives as
    aligned with the focus areas in the strategic plan. 
  • Ensure team cohesion, effective strategy and tactics, efficient
    process, data-driven decision making, systems to set and track
    KPIs, and proactive communication with other teams. 

Administration & Leadership:

  • Provide leadership, mentorship and Development team.
  • Participate in setting FY budget goals, both monetary and
    non-monetary, for the development team

Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated leadership, management, and interpersonal skills,
    particularly in creating positive, productive collaborations across
    the organization.
  • Experience writing compelling fundraising materials.
  • Experience conducting research, collecting and reviewing
    relevant data, analyzing reports, identifying trends, and reporting
    results.
  • Experience in managing a portfolio of donors, including
    developing and cultivating donor relationships.
  • Experience managing projects with a diverse group of
    individuals, ensuring successful and timely completion of
    tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the
    ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of
    individuals, including donors, volunteers, and staff.
  • Knowledge of business principles involved in resource
    allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and
    resources.
  • Skill in organizing, planning, and prioritizing work;
    developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and
    accomplish work.
  • Skill in active Listening; giving full attention to what other
    people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made,
    asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at
    inappropriate times.
  • Skill in reading comprehension; understanding written sentences
    and paragraphs in work related documents. Skill in writing;
    communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs
    of the audience. 
  • Skill in speaking; talking to others to convey information
    effectively.
  • Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working
    relationships with internal staff and external stakeholders and
    maintaining them over time.
  • Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose
    the best solution and solve problems.
  • Ability to balance multiple assignments and follow standard
    procedures to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Ability to manage projects from implementation to
    execution.
  • Travel may be required.

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related
    field.

    • Experience: Minimum of eight (8) years
      progressive corporate relations, fundraising/philanthropic program
      development, or corporate grant writing experience. Corporate or
      association experience accepted. Prior experience with medical or
      healthcare professionals and the medical device/pharmaceutical
      industries preferred
    • Computer/System Skills: MS office, database
      systems, and sales management software (e.g. Salesforce and
      Classy
