OFFICE OF INSTITUTIONAL EQUITY (UA-OIEQ-IUINA)


The Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) furthers the university’s commitment to non-discrimination, civil rights, and advancement of equal opportunities in all University programs in accordance with applicable laws and University policy. OIE coordinates federal compliance for hiring and employment; develops and delivers training and education programs throughout the university regarding prevention, equity and compliance; and addresses concerns related to discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation.


The Equity Leader (Director, Equal Employment Opportunity and Hiring Compliance) will serve several primary functions within the Office of Institutional Equity. The Equity Leader reports to the Associate Vice President for Institutional Equity and Title IX and serves on the leadership team as 1 of 5 directors in the office.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Coordinates compliance with OFCCP regulations as they pertain to recruiting, hiring, and other aspects of employment.
  • Prepares and completes the university’s affirmative action plans for all campuses.
  • Provides campuses, schools, and staff units with data reports supporting recruiting and hiring plans.
  • Coordinates with Human Resources, academic affairs offices, and the equity officials on each campus to establish and promote compliance and best practices in employee recruiting and hiring.
  • Supervises OIE staff members responsible for data reporting and OIE staff that monitor searches and hiring systems.
  • Assists with OIE’s other focus areas including training, communication, annual reporting, and collaboration with internal and external partners and experts.

General Responsibilities

  • Provides day-to-day operational management of Equity and/or Title IX teams.
  • Establishes short-term operational objectives.
  • Identifies operational issues and/or areas of improvement and implements solutions to improve processes and/or operational efficiency.
  • Analyzes, monitors, and evaluates performance of assigned staff; establishes work priorities, conducts performance reviews, and provides corrective action as needed.
  • Ensures adequate staffing and effective scheduling; participates and informs employment decisions for assigned staff.
  • Provides direct supervision and oversight of assigned staff and activities; impacts, and is held accountable for, the performance of team and/or assigned staff.
  • Ensures and provides training to assigned staff to improve Equity and Title IX operations; researches and identifies development opportunities for assigned staff.
  • Keeps next-level leader(s) informed of trends as well as significant problems.

EDUCATION

Required 

  • Bachelor’s degree. 

Preferred

  • Advanced degree or certification in legal, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) compliance, human resources, or related field. 

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required 

  • 2 years in compliance, investigatory, or related field.

Preferred

  • Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) compliance experience. 
  • Experience working with large sets of data.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.


Bloomington, Indiana or Indianapolis, Indiana

This is an in-person position. 


$85,000 – $95,000 per year based on experience.
