The MPI for Biological Cybernetics invites expressions of interest for andfrom outstanding scientists for the position of Director (m/f/d).

A Max Planck Director pursues a bold long-term research agenda in their own Department, and leads the Institute jointly with fellow Directors. Directors should have achieved internationally recognized distinction in cognitive neuroimaging. Research interests should complement the wide-ranging areas encompassed by the Institute across systems, cognitive and computational neuroscience, including foci on sensory and motor processing, decision-making, and interoception in humans, model organisms and computers. We offer an excellent international research environment, outstanding infrastructure, including 3T and 9.4T human MRI scanners, and generous long-term scientific funding.

The main criteria for a directorship are scientific and scholarly excellence and an innovative and ambitious research program. Directors should be academic leaders and mentors of the highest level and standard.

They should include a current CV and a brief motivational statement (a maximum of 200 words). As a result of this process, we will hold an initial online symposium in the spring of 2024.
