| Minimum Position Qualifications | Masters degree in sports nutrition, clinical nutrition, food and nutrition, exercise physiology, or related area, and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in nutrition counseling. Must be a registered dietitian with active registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association; Certification/Licensure as required by state of practice. Must possess a valid driver’s license. |
| Special Conditions | The department is especially interested in candidates who have experience in sports nutrition, as well as are Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD), and have previous experience working in a collegiate athletics environment. |
| Work Schedule | Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Will require beyond normal schedule including nights, weekends, some holidays and travel. |

Job Duties
| Duties & Responsibilities | Individual Nutrition Counseling: Assesses and/or oversee assessment and analyze dietary practices, body composition, and energy balance (intake and expenditure) of student-athletes in the context of athletic performance and health. Counsels student-athletes on optimal nutrition for exercise training (match nutrition to training phases and goals), competition, recovery from exercise, weight management, hydration, immunity, disordered eating, travel, and supplementation. Advises student-athletes on achieving and maintaining a level of body mass, body fat, and muscle mass that is consistent with good health and good performance. Provides personalized meal and snack plans to promote achieving short- and long-term goals for athletic performance and good health. Develops hydration protocols. Conducts sweat testing and provide personalized hydration recommendations Addresses nutritional challenges to performance, such as food allergies, bone mineral disturbances, gastrointestinal disturbances, iron depletion, and iron-deficiency anemia Provides medical nutrition therapy, as needed, to help manage or treat medical conditions. Advises student- athletes on optimal nutrition for recovery from illness or injury in collaboration with sports medicine staff Coordinates nutritional care as a member of multidisciplinary sports medicine/sports science teams Serves as liaison with in- and out-patient programs for conditions such as disordered eating Evaluates nutritional supplements, including herbal supplements, for legality, safety, quality, and efficacy; monitors use of appropriate supplementation in accordance with NCAA guidelines Collaborates with the individual’s family, physician, coach and other health professionals, as appropriate Collaborates with other areas for resources to support educational efforts Documents nutrition services provided and evaluate the effectiveness of nutrition strategies towards meeting desired outcomes Reviews and modify nutrition policies and procedures, as needed Provides availability to other participating student-athletes outside of Football, as needed |
