This is a full-time leadership position affiliated with ChildFund’s International Office in Richmond, Virginia. About This Role
The Director, Grants & Project Management position will support ChildFund International’s overall grant strategy with a focus on US grantors. The Director will contribute to the achievement of the ChildFund grant strategy, including annual grant Life of Award (LOA) targets and annual grant revenue and spending targets. The Director will provide expert advice to all staff responsible for grant and project management across the organization, including post-award grant management officers and grant managers located in the field offices, on the full range of cradle-to-grave grant management responsibilities. The Director supervises the global grants and project management team members. The Director is responsible for providing ongoing compliance oversight for ChildFund International’s grants and contracts portfolio. 

Required Experience and Education

• Master’s degree or equivalent experience in international relations or a related field required.
• At least 10 years of experience in US Government contracts and grants management.
• Significant experience with USAID awards.
• Experience with other bi-lateral donors (EC, BMZ, etc.), multilateral donors, and foundations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Child Safeguarding Policy.
• Directs the review and revision of ChildFund’s grant policy and procedure, and grant and project management guidelines, with support from the Business Development, Finance and grant management teams.
• Lead and provide direct assistance to US-based staff on US-based grants.
• Lead and provide direct assistance to country offices for the oversight, monitoring and risk mitigation for the entire ChildFund grants portfolio.
• Develop and provide appropriate staff training and orientation in grant and project management.
• Provides leadership to the grants team to ensure compliance with federal contract regulations and various reporting requirements, and ensures appropriate contract documentation in accordance with USG rules and ChildFund Policies
• As required provide direct assistance to ChildFund BD initiatives to design strong proposals while ensuring accuracy and compliance with program announcement, organizational and federal regulations.
• With the Business Development team, all contractual compliance requirements are met within each cost proposal. As requested by BD, reviews and/or prepare certifications and representations and other requirements of cost proposal.
• Prepare contractual approval requests and monitor agreements, in compliance with the grants policy and procedure, and through supervision of the global grants and project management staff.
• Coordinate with grant managers at all levels of the organization in relation to grants, contracts and compliance matters.
• As requested, reviews budgets for ChildFund federal grants and contracts proposals, and sub-awardees proposal.
• Reviews cooperative agreements, sub-agreements, modifications, key procurements, subcontracts and teaming agreements (as required) consistent with ChildFund policies and procedures and provides oversight to the grants staff responsible for these documents.
• Oversees compilation and analysis of awards, revenue and spending for ChildFund’ s active grant portfolio.
• Based on input from BD team as well as CO grant teams, provide updated projections and budgets for grant revenues, expenses and ICR.
• Understands the Salesforce grants management module, provides training and support to grants team. Leads the training effort and rollout of the ChildFund Salesforce system update for the grants management module.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of US government Rules and Regulations and risk management principles.
• Fully knowledgeable of the requirements of the OMB Uniform Guidance 2 CFR 200, the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), AIDAR and applicable sections of the ADS as they relate to grants and contracts management.
• Strong management skills, with the ability to manage a remote, geographically dispersed team, including performance coaching capabilities.
• The ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
• Fluency or professional proficiency in a second language is beneficial.
• The ability to work effectively in a matrix and global environment.
• The ability to adapt and work effectively in a digitally enabled environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 environment and applications, including MS Visio and MS Project.
• Proficiency with Adobe applications.
• Excellent organization and attention to detail with a track record of consistently meeting tight deadlines.
• Familiarity or proficiency with Salesforce Grants Management is preferred.

Other Criteria

• The ability to travel periodically internationally and/or to Richmond, Virginia.
• For a Richmond, Virginia candidate, the ability to work two days per week on site.
