The LINK Director will lead a transformative five-year, $25 million Green Climate Fund (GCF) initiative aimed at transforming the lives of 400,000 drought-affected individuals in Tete, Manica, and Gaza. This role involves strategic oversight of integrating climate adaptation into social protection, enhancing Mozambique’s Adaptive Social Protection framework. The LINK Director will spearhead this transformative journey, offering strategic leadership and visionary direction to ensure that every facet of the project not only aligns with, but also amplifies our ambitious objectives. The LINK Director will be a strong leader in driving innovation, genuine collaborations, and effective execution of project initiatives across three provinces to achieve impactful and sustainable results. This role is ideal for those passionate about climate action and ready to lead a project that makes a real difference. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as international development, environmental science, or a related field (Masters’ degree preferred).
  • Certification in Project Management (PMD-Pro, PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) is highly desirable.

Experience and Skills

Essential

  • Experience working with international donors such as the Global Climate Fund (GCF), World Bank, or USAID.
  • At least 5 years of experience in project management, preferably in the field of climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, or community development.
  • Knowledge of climate change policy frameworks and international agreements (e.g., Paris Agreement, UNFCCC) is an asset.
  • Proven track record in managing multi-cultural teams and working in diverse cultural settings.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing complex projects or programs, ideally in the field of climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction.
  • Excellent understanding of climate change adaptation concepts and strategies, preferably with experience working in the field of climate change adaptation in Mozambique or similar contexts.
  • Strong written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills in English and Portuguese are expected, considering the coordination with representatives of the Mozambican government.
  • Experience with the district planning process, especially on the channelling of investment to adaptation investments to attend the specific needs of the most vulnerable.

Desirable

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with a proven ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to synthesize and analyses information, and make clear, informed decisions.
  • Ability to build relationships quickly with a wide range of people, both internally and externally
  • Strong planning, management, and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks, and responsibilities.
