The role will have responsibility for Medical Communications and Engagement Procurement categories, including Publications (approx. spend £150M).Key ResponsibilitiesStrategy creation & execution:

  • Create comprehensive sourcing strategies for spend categories in scope of responsibility, operating with a truly global, regional and local and strategic mindset and in close collaboration with other Global or Local Category Leaders to ensure full alignment with global and regional strategies
  • Have a clear understanding of how global and regional strategies affect local markets and how global and regional strategies align
  • Build an education & communication process to deliver on strategies
  • Be the expert in the spend categories

Value Creation / Benefit delivery:

  • Deliver benefits identified in category strategies through effective strategy execution, aligned to assurance of supply (risk management), quality, service, cost and innovation
  • Maintain a multi-year pipeline of savings programs, risk mitigation, and ESG

Business partnering & stakeholder management in GSK:

  • Influence key stakeholders and business partners to support strategy development, endorse recommended strategies, support execution and agree how benefit delivery will be budgeted
  • Lead as assigned global procurement strategic programs

External supplier relationships:

  • Build strategic relationships with key suppliers at a senior level and lead processes to ensure value is driven from these relationships. Ensure global and local considerations along with cross-category dependencies are accounted for in supplier relationships. Leverage the Supplier Relationship Management process to drive the relationship
  • Negotiate, create, execute and manage effective contracts with suppliers (where required) that will allow GSK to maximise opportunity globally. Ensure regional and local considerations are taken into account in global supplier negotiations and contracts

People leadership:

  • Lead and direct category team within scope of responsibility
  • Develop and implement effective, partnership, ways of working within the category management structure across geographical
  • Initiate and lead processes to enable regional and local Procurement representatives to input regional and local business requirements and market dynamic information
  • Ensure appropriate communication strategy is in place and in use within the relevant Procurement and business customer networks
  • Lead and exemplify the GSK Culture and inspire, care, motivate, develop and retain talents

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Demonstrated Procurement experience ideally in Pharmaceuticals
  • Experience in R&D Procurement / Medical and Regulatory Procurement. Marketing Procurement experience is also relevant
  • Experience of leading teams
  • In depth understanding of external environment, key suppliers/providers, commercial models, upper quartile of performance
  • Demonstrated success in leading projects to meet and improve the needs of business
  • Experience managing the delivery of large projects and with end-to-end service / operations management
  • Strong digital data, tech savvy

Preferred Qualifications:If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills across internal GSK teams and external suppliers globally
  • Understanding business value, business priorities, and implementation risks
  • Demonstrated ability to display key attributes of successful business partnering including building strong relationships with key individuals
