Position Focus:
The Director of Admissions for Inclusion and Diversity is responsible for working collaboratively across the MBA leadership team & with key partners across the school, the university & externally to increase the diversity of Yale School of Management student body & promote access to business education among historically under-represented populations. Reports to the Assistant Dean for Admissions. Develop & evolve comprehensive strategies to increase outreach, recruitment & matriculation of students especially those from backgrounds traditionally under-represented in business (under-represented students of color and women). This includes the planning and execution of recruiting & yield events and activities, in-person and virtual.
Steward the school’s network of relationships & partnerships with external organizations, agencies & community partners. Ensure the development and maintenance of strategic partnerships with key national affinity organizations which enhance the school’s efforts to recruit and retain students from under-represented populations, and to develop successful programming. Oversee the liaison with local chapters. Develop & maintain strategic partnerships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic Serving Institutions (Tribal Colleges, and other institutions) to enhance the school’s efforts to recruit & retain students from these populations & develop successful programming. Work with Office of General Counsel & other stakeholders for current policies, laws & regulations that relate to use of demographic data in admissions; work with Admissions leadership team to ensure that relevant legal, regulatory & policy frameworks are incorporated into student recruitment, selection & enrollment (awarding of scholarships).
Work with MBA & Masters Programs Admissions & Communications teams to develop/implement effective communication strategies, web & interactive media & marketing/promotional collateral materials that can be used for recruiting & community building. Ensure messages on diversity initiatives are appropriately positioned/integrated & specific needs of diverse audiences are met. Participate in standard admissions activities, i.e., admissions interviews, on-campus information sessions, open houses, admissions travel & yield events. Work cooperatively with MBA & Masters Programs department leaders to follow-up with prospective and newly admitted students from under-represented groups.
Evaluate applications for admission & participate in committee selection. Develop & administer pre-MBA program to promote access to business education & assist the matriculation of students from non-traditional and under-represented populations. Work collaboratively with other University units & community organizations. Maintain admissions diversity statistics for monitoring within application season, analysis across application seasons & reporting to internal constituents & external stakeholders. Benchmark outcomes of diversity initiatives against data from other programs. Develop key metrics that capture the value & performance of this area, track & report the measures to drive continuous improvement in unit activities. Manage the fiscal resources allocated to diversity initiatives. Prepare annual strategic budget proposal & manage area expenditures relative to approved financial allocation. Cultivate/maintain partnerships with staff in other program areas, provide support to student programs & participate as an active partner. Supervise daily activities of full-time and temporary staff for specific coverage area. Design/implement innovative projects based on needs of admissions office.

Essential Duties
1. Oversees the advancement and growth of the program. Gives direction and leadership supporting the philosophy, mission, strategy, and annual goals and objectives. Assumes primary accountability for disseminating and publishing all program information to create public awareness and support of the program. 2. Works closely with leadership, internal and external colleagues, and community residents to further develop and implement strategic plans. 3. Identifies, solicits, and cultivates community partnerships and collaborations to assist in the development and growth of the program. Develops the metrics to identify and measure the success of the program. Responsible for measurements of grant success and related evaluation. 4. Assists in identifying and evaluating potential future funding sources, and contributes to the submission of grants and contracts supporting the program, including the annual submission and writing of all content areas and budgetary sections of grant applications. Develops and manages the program’s operating budget. 5. Develops the administrative infrastructure of the program. Manages human resource and administrative functions of the program, including staffing and hiring, supervision, performance development, counseling and discipline, if warranted. Oversees and manages information systems, facilities, and space needs. 6. Investigates, identifies, implements, and oversees the maintenance of systems to gather, track, and report information to support the initiatives of the program. Tracks all program activities and regularly informs leadership of progress on each initiative. Recommends structural or programmatic adjustments, changes or additions based on full knowledge of missions, goals, and objectives. 7. Initiates, designs, and manages the compilation of program communications; identifying outreach potential, and promoting philanthropic and collaborative support of the program. Contributes to the development and assists in the management of content on the program’s website and monitors all changes and additions to the editorial content. 8. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills (both written and oral).

Ability to travel regularly and work evenings and weekends.

Proven ability, or experience, in progressive responsibility in either education administration or related corporate roles with direct experience in admissions, recruitment, and/or diversity programming.

Advanced degree preferred.
