Director of Corporate Relations

Reporting to the senior director of corporate relations, the
director of corporate relations in the Office of the Vice
Chancellor for Advancement engages with UIC faculty and leadership,
external corporate staff, and other constituents to secure
corporate support in the forms of philanthropic giving, sponsored
research and other corporate partnerships. Serving as liaison to
colleges on the UIC campus, the director meets regularly with
college-based Advancement staff, deans and/or leadership, and
faculty to understand college priorities, design strategic and
operational plans to build and manage corporate relationships and
align corporate interests with funding needs.

Job Responsibilities

• Serves as lead development officer for a portfolio of corporate
  donors and prospects, managing all phases of the development
  process including identification, qualification, cultivation,
  solicitation, and stewardship.
• Works with college/unit-based Advancement staff, UIC
  leadership, Deans, faculty, and other staff as well as corporate
  executives and other representatives to communicate and engage with
  the corporate community around fundraising priorities and academic
  initiatives within assigned colleges.
• Makes personal visits with corporate officers and external
  advocates, such as alumni and friends.
• Provides effective coordination of activities such as campus
  visits, site visits, travel to relevant sites, and presentations or
  proposal submissions for assigned colleges.
• Works directly with offices and partners at UIC who are
  relevant to executing agreements with companies, including the
  Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, the Office of Career
  Services, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Innovation, and
  others.
• Tracks development activity and suspect and prospect strategies
  by entering plans, steps and opportunities in the constituent
  relationship management database (TED).
• With the Senior Director of Corporate Relations, works with key
  campus leadership to build the visibility, stature, and brand of
  UIC within the corporate community.
• Performs other related duties and participates in special
  projects as assigned.

 

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE
QUALIFICATIONS  

 

• Bachelor’s degree or a foreign equivalent.
• A minimum of five (5) years in corporate fundraising, including
  a proven track record in securing six-figure gifts.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and confidently with senior
  leadership at UIC and in the corporate sector.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to
  Advancement colleagues, donors, volunteers, faculty, and
  staff.
• High level of professionalism, integrity, good judgement, and
  the ability to work in a team environment.
• Prior knowledge and familiarity with local and national
  business environments as well as fundraising strategies and
  techniques.
