Play On Philly (POP) is a leading non-profit organization
providing after-school music instruction to over 300 K-12 students
in communities that have little or no access to formal music
education. Through our work, we help children and youth in
Philadelphia aspire to success, realize their full potential for
growth, and become instruments of change in our society.

We don’t just teach music: We transform lives!

As our Director of Development you will create, lead, and direct
our fundraising and development initiatives and play a key role in
ensuring the financial stability of the organization. Reporting to
POP’s Executive Director, you are responsible to:

  • Lead the work of the Development Team to design and implement
fundraising initiatives to support Play On Philly’s continued
    growth
  • Work closely with the Executive Director and the Board of
Directors in stewarding gifts, obtaining grants, and cultivating
donors to enhance POP’s financial position
  • Lead and participate in the hiring and growth of staff for the
    Development Team
  • Collaborate with our Grants Writer to support and grow our
    extensive grants portfolio
  • Serve as POP’s staff liaison for Development at Board of
Directors’ meetings and to the Board’s Development Committee

  • Lead the Development Team, providing direction, prioritization,
    feedback, and guidance as needed

We are looking for a dedicated, driven Development professional
with proven ability to strategically plan, manage multiple
simultaneous projects, and work effectively as part of a

meaningful relationships across multiple stakeholders, including
partner organizations, foundations, local and national
philanthropic communities, and POP’s Board of Directors. In
addition, we require the following skills/abilities:

  • 5 or more years of experience building effective systems for
donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and
    special fundraising events planning
  • A Bachelors degree in Non-Profit Management, Business
Administration, or related field (Masters preferred)
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills that
resonate across a diverse range of audience
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, off-hours, and travel
    locally as needed
  • Experience managing multiple projects and the ability to
supervise and motivate staff, consultants, and volunteers
  • Experience in building and optimizing donor databases and
fundraising software (familiarity with DonorPerfect is a plus) and
proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite

We offer unparalleled opportunities to make a difference as part
of POP’s Leadership Team:

  • Make a lasting, life-changing impact on the lives of hundreds
    of students and their families
  • Bring equity and opportunity to communities that historically
have no access to high-quality music education
  • Accelerate your career in a highly-visible role that interacts
with a wide variety of stakeholders, including our Board of
Directors, key cultural partners and non-profit organizations,
school administrators and leaders, and community/political
    leaders
