The Opportunity

  • The Director of Development reports directly to the Vice
    President of Development and serves as an experienced and dynamic
    Senior Major Gift Officer to help expand the base of support for
    Benetech’s mission. This position will discover and qualify new
    prospects with a giving capacity of $25,000 and higher; manage a
    portfolio of up to 150 corporate, foundation and individual
    prospects in order to secure 4-6 figure gifts that contribute
    toward Benetech’s fundraising goals; work with colleagues across
    the organization to coordinate cultivation and solicitation
    strategies for annual gift planning, corporate sponsorships, and
    individual giving; create written materials to support fundraising
    efforts; and design and execute appropriate events for the
    cultivation and stewardship of major donors.

Key Responsibilities  

  • Serve as a front-line fundraiser identifying, developing, and
    building long-term donor relationships, stewarding donors, and
    successfully closing 5-6 figure major gifts
  • Coordinate and lead activities to best use a donor database
    system to document and track prospect and donor information and
    interactions
  • Maintain a detailed stewardship plan to acknowledge and
    recognize Benetech investors to include processes and strategies to
    keep donors engaged by showing them their impact and building
    long-lasting relationships

 Qualifications and Core
Competencies
 

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree and CFRE
    certification welcomed.
  • Appreciation and passion for Benetech’s mission
  • 6+ years of professional fundraising experience. Extensive
    experience in
  • themselves leading solicitations for non-profit
    development/fundraising
  • Experience working with key stakeholders
  • Must have the ability to create comprehensive plans and follow
    through on each
  • detail
  • Must be highly organized and enjoy a fast-paced work
    environment
  • Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both
    verbally and in
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Products and preferably
    Salesforce

Travel Obligations: 25%
