The University of Colorado Boulder encourages applications for a
Director of Development, Leeds School of Business! The Director of
Development uses expert knowledge of fundraising techniques to
coordinate, direct, and implement development activities for the
Leeds School of Business. This position is a crucial part of the
Office of Advancement and is responsible for soliciting major gifts
of at least $100,000. This role will have a significant focus on
identifying and establishing relationships with new donors while
also cultivating select existing relationships with the intent of
sustaining and growing relationships with donors. This position

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Portfolio Management

  • This position will strategically manage a portfolio of at least
    100 prospects. Goals are established relating to the number of
    personal contacts, number of proposals and closure of current and
    future gifts to be set with and approved by management.
  • Travel within Colorado and to an assigned out of state region
    1-2 times per month, typically with at least one overnight per
    month.
  • This position cultivates existing and new donor relationships
    with individuals, corporations and foundations with the intent of
    sustaining and increasing donor engagement for the Leeds School of
    Business.
  • Position develops and manages a portfolio of prospects capable
    of making significant gifts in order to secure gift commitments of
    at least $100,000.
  • Position works closely with faculty, staff and volunteers in
    the School to develop and implement comprehensive fund-raising
    strategies for direct identification, cultivation, solicitation and
    stewardship of prospects.
  • Position facilitates productive relationships between donors
    and CU Boulder administrators, faculty and staff to ensure
    effectiveness of programs.
  • Position works to ensure timely, accurate completion of
    proposals, pledges and fund agreements.
  • Position documents prospect strategies and contact reports,
    evaluates new prospects and generates stewardship reports and
    general correspondence to cultivate major gift prospects.

Engagement

  • Position Represents the School at events in order to support
    the University and cultivate donors. Typically outside of business
    hours including nights and weekends.
  • Support engagement team by volunteering to support alumni
    engagement events including but not limited to football tailgate
    parties, board meetings and graduation.
  • Serve as an advocate within the University for donors, alumni
    and friends.

Other

  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Liaison role with one or more of the centers of excellence
    within the Leeds School of Business.

What You Should Know

This position will require local, regional, and out-of-state
travel to meet with donors.
This position will occasionally be required to work
evenings/weekends. Additionally, the schedule will heavily be
impacted by football games during the fall semester, working the
Leeds Football suite and tailgates, including a requirement to
staff the suite twice each fall.
This position has the ability to work a hybrid schedule with some
days on campus and some days remote.

What We Can Offer

The salary range for this position is $95,295 – 114,000
annually. A signing bonus and/or relocation assistance may be
available within department guidelines.

What We Require

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience may substitute for
    the degree on a year for year basis.
  • 5+ years of professional, job-related experience.
