dedicated to factual reporting. Founded in 1846, AP today remains
the most trusted source of fast, accurate, unbiased news in
all formats and the essential provider of the technology and
services vital to the news business. More than half the world’s
population sees AP journalism every day.

The Associated Press seeks an experienced
director of development with a passion for journalism to lead and
help grow fund development to support its mission of delivering
independent journalism to the world. Reporting to the Vice
President of Philanthropic Development, this position will lead a
growing team that secures philanthropic support that advances AP’s

position created to move AP’s fund development delivery to the next
level. Key priorities span a wide range of topics, including
democracy, education, climate, health, and artificial
intelligence.

The candidate will have a successful track
record of building partnerships and closing grants and gifts at the
7-figure and higher level. The individual will be an exceptional
relationship manager and a passionate ambassador for The Associated
Press’ Pulitzer Prize-winning journalism. The candidate will be
comfortable working with AP staff all over the world, in business
as well as editorial departments, and have frontline experience
with senior foundations officials and major donors. Travel will be
required.

Specific responsibilities
include:

  • Serve as AP’s frontline executive for new business acquisition
    and revenue development.
  • Steward and build current philanthropic donor relationships,
with an eye toward ensuring successful renewals.
