I am recruiting for a Director of Finance for a non-profit, membership organisation based in Brussels.
This is a new role for the organisation. After a period of financial difficulty, it is seeking someone who is highly motivated to use their in-depth knowledge to support their efforts in building a better future; with the skills, experience and leadership to reach its financial objectives.
Your responsibilities will involve:
Financial planning and tracking;
Ensure that the organisation is compliant with all relevant laws and regulations, including those related to corporate governance and financial reporting;
Ensure that the organisation’s statutory registers and tax filings are up-to-date and accurate;
Support the organisation and provide processes, frameworks and structures to ensure that the organisation is compliant with all grant agreements;
Manage the preparation and distribution of AGM and Conseil d’Administration meeting agendas, provide monthly/quarterly financial reports, minutes, and other documentation;
Maintain an effective governance framework and oversee the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements;
Act as the point of contact with the accountants and auditors;
Provide advice and support to the organisation, Conseil d’Administration and the membership to ensure they receive timely and accurate information to make informed decisions;
Support the President and management committee with the implementation of the organisation’s financial and strategic objectives;
To work with the President, management committee and Conseil d’Administration towards establishing a long term sustainable future for the organisation, so that it can better manage financial ebbs and flows;
Support the decision processes and writing of bids and proposals with a view to managing future resourcing and risks.
You will have:
Senior or leadership role with full financial responsibilities, including line management;
Horizon or similar EU Commission grant management;
Budgeting, structuring and management of uncertain income flows;
Working in a project-based environment;
Working in a hybrid environment where many team members work remotely, and the online, digital working culture that comes with it, using various collaborative tools and platforms;
Operational financial and resource management, including (but not limited to):
Cashflow, forecasting and accounting standards;
Tax and capital management;
Familiarity with managing different funding revenue streams such as multiple grants, multiple grant/philanthropic bodies, local government funding and commercial work.
Systems building and operating model, including (but not limited to):
Payroll across jurisdictions;
Annual reporting to the board;
Quarterly reporting to the management team.
This is a one-year contract and working three days per week paying a competitive package depending on applicants skills and experience.
