Scope

The Director of Finance will have overall financial management
responsibility including the review and approval of monthly,
quarterly, and annual financial reporting materials and metrics for
the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors. They will
oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, cash flow and
coordination of audit activities as well as accounts payable and
receivable. The ideal candidate will not only be able to reconcile
financial activities but should also be skilled at capturing key
data and processes to demonstrate the relationship between UCEF
goals and resulting fundraising needs. 

 

Essential Functions and
Responsibilities: 
 

  • Drive the financial planning of the company by analyzing its
    performance and risks 
  • Manage company’s finance systems  
  • Set targets and supervise all accounting personnel
    (Clerk) 
  • Develop and implement internal policies and
    practices 
  • Monitor cash flow and financial transactions 
  • Oversee all audit and internal control operations  
  • Develop and support corporate fundraising strategy and manage
    relationships with COO, CEO, Board of Directors and
    funders 
  • Prepare timely and detailed reports on financial performance on
    a monthly, quarterly and annual basis 
  • Conduct analysis to make forecasts and report to the Executive
    Team  
  • Manage and drive tax compliance and risk management 
  • Work with CEO and COO to develop investment and treasury
    policies and practices 
  • Manage and provide grant reports and develop budgets for grant
    applications 

 

Supervision:  Yes 

Travel:  25% 

Requirements

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or relevant field
    required.  Master’s degree, MBA or CPA is a plus. 
  • Minimum 5+ years of proven experience as a Director of Finance
    or Manager within a Non-Profit or a Foundation  
  • Experience managing early career finance and accounting
    professionals. 
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting
    principles, laws and best practices 
  • Solid foundation of financial analysis and
    forecasting 
  • An analytical mind with a strategic ability 
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills 
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal
    abilities 
  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills, extremely
    collegial 
  • Outstanding communications skills, written and oral 
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness and good judgment 
  • Hands-on, leads by example
