THE ROLE
The Director of HR will provide strategic leadership in the design, development, implementation, and management of human resource strategies. The Director plays a critical role in shaping HALO’s future and ensuring that its people-processes contribute to its overall success. The position requires a combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking, leadership skills, and effective communication.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement HR strategy aligned with business goals
- Participate in the development and delivery of the organization’s business plan
People Management and Development
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and talent management processes
- Develop and implement performance management and appraisal systems
- Foster a positive and engaging work environment
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations
Operational Excellence
- Manage HR operations, including payroll, benefits, and HRIS
- Provide HR advisory services to employees and managers
- Oversee HR data analysis and reporting
Governance and Compliance
- Ensure adherence to HR policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Provide HR support to the Board of Trustees
Additional Responsibilities
- Travel to international locations as required
- Act as a Duty Officer
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in human resource management/CIPD/SHRM, or a related field (or demonstrable professional experience in a similar senior role).
- Significant experience in human resource management
- Proven experience in leading HR strategy and implementation at an organisational level.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience operating internationally, preferably within the humanitarian and international development sector.
- Understanding of and interest in the humanitarian and international development sector
