Position Summary
United Way of Central Indiana recognizes that the key to success
is a strong and cohesive team that works through shared values to
achieve our mission. The Director of Infrastructure is a member of
the Sector Support team and is responsible for the administration
of the infrastructure funds initiatives which are key components of
United Way of Central Indiana’s support of our vital human services
network priority. These initiatives include the Facilities
Maintenance Fund (FMF), the Technology
Fund (TF) and the Capital Projects Fund (CPF). These three funds
are designed to address the various capital and technological needs
of United Ways accredited partner organizations and community
projects utilizing capital grants, planning assistance, consulting
services and training. This position requires understanding of
capital project planning and development to provide guidance to
organizations seeing grant funding and to facilitate strong
grant-making decisions.
Position Duties &
Responsibilities
The following statements are intended to describe the
general nature and level of work being performed. They are
not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all
responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so
classified.
• Assure the overall management, operations
and quality control of the Facilities Maintenance
Fund, the Technology Fund, and the Capital Projects Fund
• Be knowledgeable about UWCI’s mission,
business policies, annual goals and responsibilities of each
department in order to effectively meet the goals and objectives of
the grants, distribution of the funds and the goals of the partner
organization
• Lead in the recruitment, support and
direction of the volunteer committees charged with the three
initiatives described above including:
• Plan, arrange, and manage committee
meetings, including staffing.
• Create reports and project management
dashboards.
• Provide orientation for new participants
joining CPF, FMF, or TF initiatives.
• Compile written and oral reports for UWCI
executive committee meetings.
• Foster continuous, two-way communication
with committee leadership between meetings.
• Record business conducted during committee
meetings.
• Support the recruitment of new committee
members.
• Lead the recruitment, support, and
guidance of volunteer committees responsible for overseeing the
three initiatives mentioned above, including:
• Implement, adhere to, and update operating
procedures as necessary for these initiatives.
• Recruit, coordinate, and contract with
consultants in construction, real estate, facility management,
technology, and space planning.
• Conduct periodic needs assessments and
facilities inventories for partner organizations, offering advice
and counsel as needed.
• Develop and execute a communication
plan to ensure regular updates on fund availability, policies, and
procedures.
• Maintain a strong relationship and
collaborate with funding partners on the three initiatives listed
above
• Provide regular reports and updates to the
supervisors, funders and the UWCI Executive
Committee
• Foster a cooperative spirit within the
organization and among internal and external United Way
participants.
• Actively contribute as a member of the
Sector Support Team, participating in the development of annual
work plans, department metrics, and team communication.
• Maintain visibility within the
community, particularly in the real estate development and
construction sectors, effectively communicating the purpose and
functioning of the infrastructure fund initiatives.
• Manage in-kind donations offered to
UWCI, identifying and engaging potential partner organizations
interested in donated items or services
• Perform special assignments and other work,
on an as-needed basis.

Education, Experience, and Skillset:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field or
related experience required. Master’s degree is preferred but not
required
• 5 to 10 years of professional experience in
facility, real estate, or construction management preferred
• A business background in engineering,
facilities, or project management field is preferred.
• Demonstrates proficiency in leadership and
interpersonal communication skills
• Previous engagement with non-profit
organizations, particularly in comprehending their governance
structures and decision-making processes, is preferred
• Proven entrepreneurial mindset with
the capability to develop innovative services to address customer
needs
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving
capabilities
• Effective written and verbal communication
skills
• Proficient in utilizing Microsoft
Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; familiarity with project management
software is advantageous
• Committed to personally championing
