The Department of Cell and Molecular Physiology at Loyola University Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine (SSOM) seeks applicants for a full-time Director of Mass Spectrometry.
We are seeking enthusiastic applicants who enjoy working with graduate students to help implement the curriculum and lead the Mass Spectrometry laboratory for the brand-new Master of Science in Clinical and Applied Proteomics (MS CAPS) program. Qualified candidates with a master’s degree or higher and at least two years of experience with Mass Spectrometry instruments are encouraged to apply.
The Director’s duties and responsibilities include:
- Implement and refine curriculum for master’s students including hands-on laboratory training, supervision and assessments
- Procure and prepare samples for students to use
- Run mass spectrometry instruments
- Analyze and interpret mass spectrometry data
- Provide general lab maintenance including calibrations, inventory, cleaning, safety and compliance, etc.
- Assist in managing mass spectrometry lab technician staff
Qualifications/skills:
- Proficiency with software used in research labs and willingness to learn new programs as necessary
- Minimum qualifications: Master’s degree or higher and two years’ experience with mass spectrometry instrumentation
- Preferred: Experience training students or technicians in a lab
The SSOM is undergoing rapid growth in all of its basic departments. Laboratory space will be in the state-of-the-art Center for Translational Research and Education (www.luc.edu/ctre). Review of applications will commence immediately, and applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
