About the Role

The Director of Media is an operational leader responsible for enhancing the CEC’s advocacy and campaign capacity.

In this role, the Media Director will focus on leading the CEC’s media campaigns and working closely with the Chief of Media and Communications to oversee the development of campaigns and materials. This position will be required to manage all reactive and proactive media, design and execute public media strategies, create and maintain key relationships across all major newsrooms, manage the executive profiles, develop and implement public affairs strategies.

Reporting to the Chief of Media and Communications, the role will provide operational leadership including the managing, developing and motivating the media team to guide them towards excellence in operational processes.

About You

You will be an experienced senior leader with the proven ability to drive strategic initiatives, motivate and empower high-performing teams and build a strong culture within the organisation. Critical to your success will be your demonstrated ability to develop key strategies that relate to the CEC’s ability to engage via the media.

You will have demonstrated experience in a member-based organisation or similar, where driving operational excellence is a given and managing a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment as well as solid expertise in stakeholder management. You will also have a strong track record working within the national 24-hour media cycle and have the ability to build productive relationships with media.

Experience and knowledge of state and federal politics and a background in journalism will be highly regarded.

A bulging media contacts book is essential.
