Starting Salary Range: The starting salary range for this position will be in the $106,300 to $109,489 range, depending on experience, education, and skills relevant to the position. Please note that the indicated starting salary range describes the range for an incumbent in this position. Most new staff generally start at the beginning of the range percentile to ensure internal salary equity.

Conservation Legacy is a nationwide non-profit.  The Corps programs within the organization engage participants in diverse conservation and community projects that serve public and private lands.   These projects provide opportunities for personal and professional development and strive toward a high priority of needs for public land managers and community partners. Position Summary:

The Director of National Philanthropy is a strategic and hands-on fundraising leader responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive national philanthropy strategy. This role focuses on increasing contributed revenue from individual donors, foundations, corporate partners, and other strategic funders in alignment with Conservation Legacy’s mission and growth goals. The Director plays a key role in strengthening the culture of philanthropy across the organization, supporting program staff with regional fundraising goals, and stewarding relationships that build long-term support for Conservation Legacy’s national and regional programs.

Outcomes & Functions of Position:

Strategy & Leadership (30%)

• Design and execute a national philanthropy strategy that supports annual revenue goals and organizational priorities.
• Collaborate closely with the President, Sr. Vice President of External Affairs, Executive Directors, and Board of Directors to expand the organization’s donor base and philanthropic partnerships.
• Serve as a thought partner and philanthropy leader internally, fostering a culture of donor engagement and cross-program collaboration.
• Serve as staff leader and liaison to the Board of Directors Philanthropy Committee

Fundraising & Donor Engagement (40%)

• Manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, including individuals, foundations, and corporate partners.
• Lead national fundraising campaigns, including appeals, events, and digital strategies.
• Guide prospect research, donor segmentation, and moves management to cultivate and steward gifts.
• Work with program and finance staff to prepare compelling proposals, reports, and impact materials for funders.

Operations & Systems (20%)

• Oversee and optimize fundraising operations, including donor CRM (Salesforce), gift processing, and acknowledgment processes.
• Supervise the development of fundraising dashboards, reports, and tracking mechanisms.
• Manage and mentor philanthropy staff and contractors to deliver high-quality proposals, funder engagement, and fundraising outcomes.

Communications & Storytelling (10%)

• Partner with Communications staff to align fundraising and storytelling efforts across channels.
• Support the creation of donor-centric content, case statements, and campaign messaging.

Organizational Advocacy

• Successfully engages, leads, and supports a positive work environment for all within the organization and the communities we serve.
• Leads and/or participates in organizational-wide teams, projects and initiatives that support the work of the Strategic Plans goals.
• Reports any potential complaints within the organization as identified in the Personnel Policy Manual.
• Assists or leads other responsibilities, as assigned.

Qualifications: 

• Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising, with demonstrated success in grant writing and national donor engagement.
• Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and storytelling skills.
• Experience leading teams, developing strategies, and managing complex projects.
• Familiarity with fundraising CRMs (Salesforce preferred), data analytics, and donor stewardship best practices.
• Ability to travel nationally for internal meetings, donor cultivation, events, and site visits.
• Outstanding project management skills, with an ability to adapt in a dynamic environment.
• Prior experience supervising and managing fund development activities remotely and with a nationwide team.
• Valid Driver’s License and Insurable Driving Record per Personnel Policies.
• Must be able to pass the organization’s criminal history check requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of conservation, youth development, or public lands issues.
• Experience in a federated, field-based, or multi-site nonprofit environment.
