Director of Operations – VIRTUAL

National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster
(NVOAD), seeks an experienced director of operations to
support the overall administration and management of National VOAD,
including communication and engagement with the board of directors,
providing liaison with US Government Agencies, and business
operations. This is a virtual fulltime, exempt position reporting
to the President/CEO.

 

Founded in 1970, National VOAD is an association of more than
130 organizations that mitigate and alleviate the impact of
disasters by providing a forum for promoting cooperation,
communication, coordination, and collaboration that results in the
fostering more effective delivery of services to communities
affected by disaster.  The VOAD Movement represents thousands
of community and faith-based organizations across the United
States.

 

The successful candidate for this position will have:

 

• A minimum of five years of education or an equivalent
  combination of education and experience in a leadership position at
  a recognized nonprofit;
• Demonstrated experience in project management, volunteer and
  board leadership, planning and fiscal management;
• Demonstrated ability to develop and administer Board approved
  operational policies including personnel, fiscal, and general
  management policies;
• Demonstrated ability to both seek and administer funding from a
  variety of sources, including government agencies, foundations and
  corporations;
• Ability to communicate effectively across diverse groups
  (staff/volunteers/funders);
• Ability to work remotely and as part of a collaborative team
  network and environment with strong organizational, engagement and
  planning skills;
• Self-motivation and goal-oriented skills; and
• Current or previous work/volunteer experience within the
  disaster field or in the disaster networks is preferred, but not
  required.
