What We’re Looking For:
FoodCorps seeks a full-time, director-level Director of Prospect
Research & Management to lead our donor prospecting strategy
and systems and help fuel the fundraising efforts needed to sustain
an approximately $25 million annual budget. This position is
responsible for prospect research, management and strategy;
overseeing the administration of External Relations’ use of
Salesforce, FoodCorps’ CRM system; and fundraising data management.
This position reports to the Director of Philanthropic Experience
& Operations and plays an integral role in FoodCorps’
fundraising and operational functions.
This is a full-time, remote position and requires occasional
travel for department meetings.
Who You Are:
You have previous prospect research experience and are deeply
curious about prospective donors and funders, and energized by
uncovering new sources of support for FoodCorps, figuring out where
their interests align with our mission, and discovering the
pathways to connection. You can “think like a fundraiser,” and
creative problem-solving is one of your strengths. You have
experience managing fundraising databases, are detail- and
systems-oriented, and able to create and maintain top-notch
development operations protocols, procedures, and documents. You
are highly motivated, a fast learner, great communicator, good
collaborator, able to anticipate obstacles, approach your work with
impeccable discretion, and are skilled at juggling multiple
projects and tight deadlines.
Primary Responsibilities:
Research
- Responsible for developing and implementing a holistic,
proactive prospecting strategy in partnership with Moves Managers
to open up new sources of funding for FoodCorps across corporate,
foundation, and individual revenue streams. - Prioritize, assign, and conduct preliminary research on
potential prospective funders to determine donor interest and
capacity, and assess potential alignment with FoodCorps’ mission
and values in accordance with FoodCorps’ vetting process. - Prioritize, assign, and prepare comprehensive funder profiles
through gathering, analyzing, and evaluating research
data. - Manage and train other staff (as needed) on utilizing our
prospecting tools and systems, including iWave, Foundation
Directory Online, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
Prospect and Portfolio Management
- Serve as a collaborative partner and thought leader to Moves
Managers by designing and implementing prospect management best
practices that encourage major and transformational gift
relationships - Develop and build out dynamic portfolios to support a growing
regional philanthropy team - Lead efforts to ensure donor pipeline viability by working
closely with Moves Managers on strategic portfolio composition and
management - Lead the cross-departmental institutional funder vetting
process to ensure our funding partners are aligned with FoodCorps’
mission and DEI goals, and will develop a new individual major
donor vetting process that advances FoodCorps’ anti-racism
strategy. - Lead three monthly portfolio review meetings (one per revenue
stream) to oversee and maintain prospect management, including
portfolio assignments, qualification strategy development, and
accountability to next steps. - Directs the process for annual donor strategy development.
- Leads semi-annual portfolio reviews with each fundraiser to
ensure portfolio health and hygiene. - With support from the External Relations Operations Manager,
tracks fundraisers’ annual revenue goals and key performance
indicators, and is responsible for ensuring the data is accessible
to and strategically utilized by Moves Managers. - Coordinates Moves Managers’ self-directed prospecting efforts
to ensure overall effectiveness and accountability to FoodCorps’
tracking systems and vetting process.
Operations
- Supervises the External Relations Salesforce lead (External
Relations Operations Manager) and collaborates closely with
Director of Salesforce Platform and the External Relations
Operations Manager to maximize the department’s use of
Salesforce. - Ultimately responsible for Salesforce database hygiene,
maintenance, and overall integrity of the database. - Directs and troubleshoots fundraising metrics and
reporting. - Oversees pipeline tracking, fundraising metrics, and monthly
revenue projections for cash flow reporting executed by the
External Relations Operations Manager. - Works collaboratively across the department and organization to
further our DEI and FoodCorps Next goals. May serve as the lead on
specific goals.
Management
- Management of the External Relations Operations Manager, with
responsibilities of the day-to-day maintenance of FoodCorps’
fundraising database and revenue/fundraising data. - Ensures a culture where effective teamwork, collaboration,
innovation, and inclusion are expected, recognized, and
rewarded.
Measures of Success:
By the end of year 1, the Director of Prospect Research &
Management will have:
- Built out and begun implementation of prospecting strategies
for each of our revenue streams that align with FoodCorps’
three-year revenue model and Antiracism Strategy - Developed and launched a new vetting process for individual
funders that aligns with FoodCorps’ values and identity as an
organization committed to justice - Identified 25 new actionable BIPOC funding prospects across all
private philanthropy revenue streams - Led regular portfolio review meetings for each fundraiser and
revenue stream as well as the process for annual donor
strategy development to ensure portfolios are aligned with design
principles and supportive of fundraising targets and Moves Managers
are thoughtfully and effectively cultivating and stewarding donors
and prospects. - Collaborated with the External Relations Operations Manager to
elevate Salesforce as a strategic fundraising and management
tool. - Built strong working relationships with the External Relations
Operations Manager and the broader revenue team. - Learned about FoodCorps’ theory of change and programmatic
goals to help identify emerging funding opportunities and to
support Moves Managers in their strategic relationship
development.

This position is a Director role with a starting salary range
between $87,000-108,000/year. Note: A cost of living
adjustment may be made for candidates living in our designated high
cost of living areas. Adjustment would be made after hire and is
not reflected in the listed salary range.
