This position leads the team responsible for many of UC
Riverside’s signature events, overseeing event management and
production of events including but not limited to Commencement
ceremonies, galas, regional alumni gatherings, dignitary visits,
high-profile lectures, concerts, and select events sponsored by the
Office of the Chancellor. Serves as the campus resource for
developing and maintaining campus protocols for all aspects of
events. The director oversees the day-to-day work of the University
Events team and works in close collaboration with partners
throughout the university to deliver high-quality experiences that
grow affinity, align with the UCR brand, and expand support and
engagement. Please note: Campus presence is required with hybrid

Educational Requirements Degree Requirement Bachelors’ degree in
related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
Experience Requirements Experience Requirement 8 – 13 years of
related experience. Required Previous supervisory/managerial
experience. Preferred
Key Responsibilities
Description Percent Time Through subordinates, manages a diverse
variety of events, ranging from small events with complex guest
lists to large, campuswide events requiring coordination of
multiple internal and external resources.
Commencement ceremonies.
30% Provides comprehensive direction and oversight for all aspects
of event management including personnel and financial
administration. 20% Serves as a campuswide expert and consultant on
event management and protocol. Provides guidance and counsel to
campus units, colleges, and departments. 15% Selects, trains,
leads, directs, mentors, evaluates and, as required, takes
corrective action with subordinate professional staff. 10% May
serve as high level event consultant to senior management.

10% Develops a strategic annual events budget in collaboration with
the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer. Supervises
budgetary planning for each event, ensuring compliance with UCOP
and UC Riverside purchasing and financial policies. 10% Confers
with broad based constituencies regarding comprehensive event
policies, master schedules, and strategic planning. 5%
