Directs the centralized research administrative services office to implement institutional requirements College-wide and at the departmental level. The Director, Research Administration reports to the Executive Director, Research Administration – Sponsored Programs. The Director role has six direct reports. The research support office serves to connect departmental research administrators with sponsored programs pre award and post award offices, providing training in support of the profession of research administration. Will provide best practices for research administration and serve as subject matter expert. This office provides practical support for research administration activities, but also provides the bigger vision the professional development of research administrators.
This position is eligible for an annual performance-based bonus.
This role is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
Job Duties
Set BCM wide standards for research administration services
Lead research administration services teams in support of research proposal development and award management activities throughout the College
Establish the framework for the development of the College-wide research administration workforce
Create a centralized research administrative services office in support of faculty and departments in preparing for strategic funding initiatives
Oversee and measure the effectiveness of the program
Manage pre-award and/or post-award grant management activities and administration support of college-wide grants and sponsored projects
Develop and establish grant policies and guidelines for college-wide research administration
Serve as a subject matter expert and liaison between investigators, sponsors, and stakeholders both inside and outside of the college
Engage in strategic planning activities in support of major college research initiatives
Coordinate activities between investigators and other central offices
Collaborate with staff, investigators, and other stakeholders to resolve queries from regulatory agencies and other involved parties
Recruit, train, and supervise research administration staff
Provide training/orientation on new and revised grant policies and guidelines to college-wide investigators and staff
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
Eleven years of directly related experience with four years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree. Seven years of directly related experience with four years of supervisory experience.
CRA (Certified Research Administrator)
Relevant experience in a research-intensive organization
